Admin essay

Thanks; I'm blushing. :-) I can't think of anything at the moment I'm dying to change, although I haven't done any serious vandal-fighting in a long while, and I think I might be harsher on advertisers and people who post libel/smear pieces... I really ought to dust that one off and revise it, but for now you are welcome to quote it.

As to your own essay, I agree with the sentiment: treat people like humans. (I'm not a stickler for "must have a defined speedy code", though most things I think ought to be speedy-deleted fall under one.) In general I like it and think it's far better to err or the side of being too considerate than too inconsiderate! And it did not make my eyes bleed, honest. (Also, it looks like your second RfA will probably go a lot better!) Thanks for the note and take care. Kat Walsh (spill your mind?) 07:37, 9 October 2006 (UTC)

hey there

Been seeing you around again – especially your activity on MD's RfB... go you good thing, stick to your convictions :) Hope you've been well and the exams aren't stressing you out too much – I'd tell you they're not that bad, but I wouldn't have believed myself this time last year either. — riana_dzasta wreak havoc-damage report 12:22, 11 October 2006 (UTC)

PS read your essay, it looks fine to me. It felt particularly relevant because I was doing a bit of RCP last night, or the night before, and going through the set of test templates with a fellow who was vandalising... some article or other. Anyway, I finally got tired of it and reported him to AIV. After about 5 minutes, I see a plaintive sort of message on the IP's userpage, something to the effect of 'we were just messing around on the school computer, we didn't realise it was vandalism, and it won't happen again'. I felt pretty bad and immediately left a {{welcomeip}} on the talkpage... and exactly a minute later, one of our newest admins came along and blocked him for 3 hours.
So where am I meant to draw the line? The IP is going around telling us that so-and-so is gay; the admin has been promoted not 2 days ago, I have supported him on his RfA and run into him numerous times on AfD. I forgot to think of the IP as a person, I guess, in my decision to not discourage a new administrator.
Ah, sometimes this Wikithing is hard. :p Oh well, I've rambled enough now. Take care, — riana_dzasta wreak havoc-damage report 12:32, 11 October 2006 (UTC)
Heh, somehow I knew you'd've nicked the wicked little TOC :) No worries, I stole it from somewhere in the first place (of course). And that's some fine detective work there; that's the IP I was talking about.
Adam's good, though, and I can see how it would look for a busy admin. Hopefully he will take note of your very sensible message, which was expressed far better than I ever could :)
I really shouldn't stay up any longer, but I'll probably hang around and do some RCP. Ciao dude, take care! And thanks for the help. — riana_dzasta wreak havoc-damage report 14:08, 11 October 2006 (UTC)
rofl! That reminds me of a terrible joke I once heard about a truck driver running into a pig, but I'll tell you that one later :p By the way, just reread your last message... sneaking? Cut me deep, man. Have a good night! — riana_dzasta wreak havoc-damage report 14:16, 11 October 2006 (UTC)

AIV

My apologies-- I did miss that message on the userpage. I sort of remember that as I was issuing the block notice, I believe I had an edit conflict with the editor who added the {{welcomeip}} notice. I thought it was a nice thing to do, having such an outreaching attitude toward a vandal, but I also saw 8 or so warnings so I thought I'd administer a short block (having not seen the userpage I considered it simply another vandalism case) But in any event, I can't justify my actions completely and I'm sure I was a little trigger-happy, trying to clear the backlog at WP:AIV. But I certainly don't want you to think that I am carelessly exercising my new powers and not investigating anything-- One of the things you learn on Wikipedia is that you have to check everything. So, thanks for your note and your congratulations, and I'll be sure to be a bit more careful next time. AdamBiswanger1 14:18, 11 October 2006 (UTC)

RfB With A Smile :)

Thank You

In regards to this[1]. I'm heading to an event in Concord tonight, i'll ask around to see who this Andrew Sylvia person is. To be honest, if he had to deal with people like this Freakofnurture person, I don't blame him for being cross -- like freak's user page says: he's a dick. --People Powered(hopefully soon I can do the four tilde thing again)

I removed the idiot comment, but I think I feel justified in my opinion that he should not be allowed to edit Wikipedia, he's a detriment to the project if this is the way he acts. However, if my opinion on that is not welcome in this instance, please feel free to remove it. I started volunteering for people like Carol Shea Porter to fight people like this guy. On the checkuser thing, if it helps at all, I use AOL for 99% of my edits. -- People Powered(will put the tildes in later)
*sigh* If you are interested, there's an interesting note from Choess on my talk page. riana_dzasta 15:17, 16 October 2006 (UTC)
Make that 2 interesting notes. riana_dzasta 15:26, 16 October 2006 (UTC)

Lol! Thanks for stickin' up for me, buddy. I'm a bit mortified, as I'm still willing to go out and bat for him, if only out of a sense of loyalty. riana_dzasta 03:58, 17 October 2006 (UTC)

Cheers

As you know, the "About" subpage of my userpage is based on completely copied from your userpage. I'd just like to thank you for not getting bitchy about the copycat thing and letting me use the code - I've just won a Barnstar for my userpage, and since a main subpage is copied from you its all thanks to you!

So - cheers!

memorable quotes

Oh, of course, of course. How about the classic edit summary: "Congratulations, You've Created A New Vandal"? Maybe you can include my baffled reactions as well. That'll be a treat to read.

The most annoying thing about the whole affair is that it's stopped me from doing... whatever it is I normally do around here :p Which ain't really much, but you know. riana_dzasta 11:37, 19 October 2006 (UTC)

Oi, no disturbing me while I'm composing an e-mail! Check your inbox in, say, 3 minutes. riana_dzasta 11:52, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
Oh, and thanks for the kind words regarding me being an admin - much appreciated :) To think that 3 users I respect so much would see me that way! I am awestruck and flattered. riana_dzasta 12:01, 19 October 2006 (UTC)

Esperanza User Page Award

Greetings, Daveydweeb. The judges would like to announce that the winner for the Esperanza User Page Contest has been chosen. Congratulations to MacGyverMagic for winning the contest. The winning entry can be found here.

Freaky Fred

Listen, I did a page on the EPISODE Freaky Fred, not the character. I beg of you, please put this up again. I think its a very, very important article for fans of Courage the Cowardly Dog. I think it was a big mistake to remove that article. Please put it up again. Thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dr. Zalost (talkcontribs)

Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Elonka

Thank you for participating in my recent RfA. Unfortunately consensus was not reached, and the nomination was not successful. However, I appreciate that you took the time to comment, and I did pay close attention to your thoughts, as I find it a valuable thing to understand how I am perceived by others in the Wikipedia community. Though the RfA was unsuccessful, I intend to continue contributing in a positive manner to Wikipedia, and if there is anything that I can do in the future to help further address your concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me. --Elonka 10:10, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

WP:WWPC

Hello, chappy! First of all, what on Earth are you doing here? :) Secondly, I checked out the second episode, and enjoyed it so much, I dl-ed the first ep, too and in high quality! Lordy. It was great overall, but I agree with Zero1328's comment in the feedback section. I think you guys need to think about who you're aiming the podcast at - is it just Wikipedians? If so, is it established Wikipedians, or people who want to learn more about the project? Or is it non-Wikipedians who want to know more about it? Put it this way: I didn't know who Jimbo was 'til about a month into editing :) And I'm sure I'm not the only one out there (although I am a little slower than average).
I'll put this on the project talk page, but I just thought I'd let you know here, as well.
Heard your sexy voice, too *swoon* :p Too bad about the bastardry, though, hope it works out better next time.
Hope the exams are going well, etc, etc...
Take care, riana_dzasta 14:18, 25 October 2006 (UTC)

Hey there! I listened to it, and I really enjoyed it. You guys just keep improving! I think the audience is a little more clearly defined now, and your range of topics was broader. Good work.
Thanks for the link to the article too, by the way, what a strange piece of work. :s
Hope your exams are going well! How many do you have left?
Take care, riana_dzasta 07:08, 30 October 2006 (UTC)

Offline release podcast on Wikipedia Weekly

Hi, after going out this weekend and splashing out on a microphone/webcam, and setting up Skype on my work computer (wasn't sure before if I could do that), I am in better shape to contribute to your podcast. I notice that the offline releases are now proposed for issue #4. If you want me to participate in a conference call (or video conference?) I should be able to do that now, but I would want to test the connection with you first as I haven't had a chance to use it. If you're looking for other names besides the principal actors I mentioned here, some other people to consider from the English offline releases include:

Let me know if you want me or others to participate (I can email Maurreen if needed), and also can you give me the date and UTC time? Thanks, Walkerma 04:23, 30 October 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the prompt reply, I wanted to give you a list in case you had trouble getting people to contribute, and also I saw the "up to ten" mentioned on the page - maybe I got carried away! If you are limited to 4-5, IMHO the top priority would be to get someone from the Polish release such as User:Polimerek or User:Kpjas, as they also have a release coming out very soon. Cheers, Walkerma 04:57, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
I'll email Polimerek and find out. The Polish group were expecting to finish their article selection of ~250,000 this week, and go to press shortly afterwards. The English Version 0.5 is still 1-2 weeks away from finishing its selection of ~2000, but unlike the Poles we don't have the publisher lined up ready yet - but at least we can release it for download soon and make it available via PediaPress. And User:BozMo is releasing his next charity version (~5000 articles) in the next month or two, I think. Walkerma 05:23, 30 October 2006 (UTC)

Congratulations, Daveydweeb, you have been nominated for the Esperanza User Page Contest! The judges have received the fifteen entries, and are ready to start judging. The judges will take a week to complete the judging process, and they will contact all the participants when the judging is done.

Ambar - deleted and then restored

Not sure if this has been pointed out, but it looks like AfD screwed up. Just to start the ball rolling and institute a culture change, I'm trying to get all admins closing things at AfD to remember to check the page history of an article before deleting, so that drastic changes in the nature of a page are spotted, and also urging those voting at AfD to do the same. See the following for details:

Copied to closing admin, restoring admin, deletion nominator, all who voted in the AfD discussion, and the AfD talk page. Carcharoth 23:50, 31 October 2006 (UTC)

Thank you for supporting my RfA

Thank you for your support in my RfA, which passed with a final tally of (56/0/2). It was great to see so much kind support from such competent editors and administrators as commented on my RfA.

I know I have much reading to do before I'll feel comfortable enough to use some of the more powerful admin tools, so I'll get right to it.

Again, thanks;  OzLawyer / talk  13:22, 2 November 2006 (UTC)

You mentioned an "add section button at the top of the page". I'm aware of no such button. Could you somehow point it out to me?   The Transhumanist   10:04, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

My RfA

Hiya Davey, Yes thanks for that.. I realised after I had already sent it (and subst'd it) Grr.. also If you look closely it says "successfully", although it was not :s.. Lots of errors. Thanks for the note, I might see my way to fixing them all manually when I come back from down the street :D Thanks for the support btw :D — Deon555talkReview 10:48, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

I think I fixed them all.. Thanks for the offer tho :) — Deon555talkReview 21:58, 4 November 2006 (UTC)
No worries, as I said thanks for the offer. I'll know where to find help next time xD — Deon555talk 08:33, 5 November 2006 (UTC)

Thank you...

...for your nod of support in my recent RfA. Its always good to get the backing of my antipodean friends, even if they did curse the world with the Wiggles (I have a six-month old, so they are now, unfortunately, a big part of my life). However, you did give the world silverchair and giant beer cans, so you guys are alright with me. Seriously, though, if you need any admin help or just a set of fresh, disinterested eyes to review an article, please do not hesitate to give me a holler. Admin coaching - November 3 - New recruits

Your coach is Yanksox. Exactly what form the admin coaching takes is up to you and the coach to decide, but a general piece of advice I give is to set up a user subpage (for example User:EXAMPLE/Admin coaching) to keep coaching discussion together. That prevents things getting split up over two talk pages, which can get confusing! Let me know on my talk page if you have any questions. Cheers, Highway Grammar Enforcer! 17:02, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

Excellent! When you are ready to begin, just create an admin coaching page, and I'll give you the best I can. Yanksox 22:23, 3 November 2006 (UTC)

*jealous* Lucky! I'm waiting for Glen to come back from his Wikibreak, and he's going to take on the unenviable task of coaching me. I'm glad I'm not in his shoes... riana_dzasta 02:11, 4 November 2006 (UTC)

I've created the admin coaching page here. It's in the user talk namespace, so that I'm alerted to changes and can save a little time looking through my obscenely long watchlist. Daveydweeb (chat/patch) 00:43, 5 November 2006 (UTC)
*almost*... yikes. Nah, he does a great job. Too bad I'm going on a break starting today and probably ending 23-Nov. I hope he doesn't decide to start up in that time. :s Hope you're doing well - I really shouldn't stick around here anymore... take care, and all the best with your exams... and happy birthday from me in advance! Mock Duck

Can you find the original vote and point me to it? --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) 05:15, 5 November 2006 (UTC)

At Mock Duck you seem to have inappropriately removed notice that the original AfD discussion alluded to in your tag should be linked to. Please link to it, or remove the assertion that it exists from your tag. - Nunh-huh 11:18, 5 November 2006 (UTC)

The message I left on that page is no less valid than the tag you left there, and is no less a part of process because it doesn't have a "pretty" box. Since you now acknowledge that there is no AfD discussion, and that the circumstances under which the deletion occurred are not as described in your tag, it is your tag that needs revision or removal. - Nunh-huh 11:28, 5 November 2006 (UTC)
Well, I gave you advice. You should take it. Don't place misleading tags on pages. The page in question appears to have been deleted out-of-process, and until some reasonable explanation of the reason for deletion is revealed, it's not speedy deletable.- Nunh-huh 11:35, 5 November 2006 (UTC)
I've been perfectly civil, and it's not appropriate for you to suggest that I haven't. You've placed an inappropriate, misleading tag on an article that may or may not eventually be deleted, based on further elaboration by Cyde as to the reasons for deletion. You should remove it, and replace it with an AFD if you feel the article should be deleted. - Nunh-huh 11:49, 5 November 2006 (UTC)
Just stickin' up for my beliefs... Hmmm, I can hear John Farnham in the background. :p riana_dzasta 12:59, 5 November 2006 (UTC)
John Farnham, mad? Never... although apparently he turned down an offer to join Queen [citation needed]. I don't think I've ever been in a taxi without John Farnham playing in the background. Hmmm, that was random. riana_dzasta 13:08, 5 November 2006 (UTC)
... obviously another Kellogs' Crunchy Nut person who shouldn't be editing so close to midnight. Bah, what a break this has been from editing, I've been here pretty much all day. Meh. riana_dzasta 13:12, 5 November 2006 (UTC)

That means... wait, let my tired brain work it out... partial borderline civility. Oi! I'm always as civil as the circumstances allow (I think... ) As for opposing me - that's fine... I'd rather you didn't let your high opinion of me cloud your judgement. riana_dzasta 13:56, 5 November 2006 (UTC)

Admin coaching - November 5 - Held comments

Mail left on the admin coaching page is being delivered here for you, Highway Ringo Starr! 10:53, 5 November 2006 (UTC)

  1. (assigned) I'd like to run for adminship (again) at some point in the next few months, but I'm eager to work on developing a proper approach toward the mop before requesting it. I do not wish to receive coaching until after November 7, since my final school exams will reduce my editing rate and make it a waste of time for all involved. If I reach the top of the line, I'd like to defer any coaching until after that date. Daveydweeb (chat/patch) 02:46, 12 June 2006 (UTC)
Note: I recently requested adminship, but was unsuccessful. The concerns raised at that RfA, particularly related to my use of CSD tags, would ideally be an important part of any coaching I'd receive. Daveydweeb (chat/patch) 14:36, 29 August 2006 (UTC)
If you would explain what you were marking for speedy, perhaps I could explain what the problem was and how to avoid it in the future. Or to save us from sifting through your contribution list, you could leave links to the specific edits in which you placed speedy tags.  The Transhumanist   09:39, 1 November 2006 (UTC)   --Please post further questions and replies on the Admin school's main page. November Esperanza Newsletter

Program Feature: Admin Coaching (needs coaches!)
Admin Coaching needs coaches!!! If you are an administrator, or even a generally experienced user, do consider signing up to be a coach.

Admin Coaching, now being coordinated by HighwayCello, is a program for people who want help learning some of the more subtle aspects of Wikipedia policy and culture. People are matched with experienced users who are willing to offer coaching. The program is designed for people who have figured out the basics of editing articles; they're not newcomers any more, but they might want some help in learning new roles. In this way, Esperanza would help keep hope alive for Wikipedia because we would always be grooming the next generation of admins.

What's New?
The Tutorial Drive is a new Esperanza program! In an effort to make complicated processes on Wikipedia easier for everyone, Esperanza working to create and compile a list of tutorials about processes here on Wikipedia. Consider writing one!
A discussion on how Esperanza relates to the encyclopedia has been started; please add your thoughts.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
The last AC meeting (full log)
  • The list of proposed programs has been updated, with some proposals being archived.
  • There is now a new program: the Tutorial Drive! Consider writing a tutorial on something you are good at doing on Wikipedia.
  • The suggestion of adding a cohesive look to all the Esperanza pages is being considered; join the discussion if you are interested!
  • In order to make a useful interlanguage welcome template, those involved in translation projects will be asked what English Wikipedia policies are most important and confusing to editors coming from other language Wikipedias.
  • A discussion of Esperanza's role in Wikipedia is being held, with all thoughts of all Esperanzians wanted!
  • Shreshth91 informed everyone that he will be leaving the Esperanza council as life is rather busy; his spot will be filled by the runner up from the last election, HighwayCello.

NPA personality theory

I noticed the comments that you put on your web site about the NPA personality theory issues. I'm actually somewhat flattered that I got quoted on it! I also noticed that you asked Psychonaut about the Good Article nomination for the article. I'm actually not sure if it still exists. I searched for it several times and did not find it. There was a peer review at Wikipedia:Peer review/NPA Personality Theory/archive1. There was also a nomination for Featured Article at Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/NPA personality theory, which it failed badly. My attention was drawn to the article when I noticed that it was marked as a Featured Article. Since there are so few Featured Articles in psychology, I wanted to see what it was about. It was then that I noticed that User:D-Katana had marked the article as FA-quality and High-importance in spite of it having lost its FA nomination. That was clearly inappropriate, so I removed the assessment and started my discussion about the article's importance. My original intention wasn't to get it deleted, only to prevent it from gaining more credibility than it deserved, although in the end, I think it was definitely best that it was deleted. —Cswrye 21:27, 6 November 2006 (UTC)

I thought you might be very interested to see the talk page and history while it is temprorily undeleted to clear up some misunderstandings about the contents User:Zeraeph/NPA. I can also confirm every word Cswrye said above. Virtual classroom

I've received two coaching assignments instead of one from the Esperanza Admin coaching program, so inorder to accomodate both students, I've set up a Virtual classroom. And to make the classroom even more rewarding and fun, I've invited some of the most prolific and talented editors of Wikipedia to come and contribute their know how so we can all learn. Currently, we are all comparing the tools each of us makes use of in navigating and working on Wikipedia. So far, Interiot, Rich Farmbrough, and CBDunkerson have been kind enough to help get things started by sharing their experience. You are cordially invited to participate as a student, a coach, or both!  The Transhumanist   15:50, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

Hmmm... putting Mother Teresa up for AfD... and accusing admins of being sockpuppets... and creating an article on my primary school... actually, hang on, the last one isn't that bad anymore. *groan* riana_dzasta 12:42, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
Heh, yeah, looks like it. You're not the only one working on the editing, though, are you? (i.e. do you have other people you could blame it on?) :p riana_dzasta 13:51, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
Aye, share the load. I link to a lot of LotR crap... I'm such a geek. Yeah, I'll get myself into bed - just want to leave a message on Drunkenness to see if they'll let me move the Quotations section to Wikiquote. Have a good night, I'll be outta here in 10, as well. riana_dzasta 14:10, 9 November 2006 (UTC)

*jaw drops* You are fast! Answering now... riana_dzasta 11:44, 10 November 2006 (UTC)

Answered - as for GA, steady on, I've got some plans during the holidays... :) And thanks for the review (already know your real opinions of me, of course... ) riana_dzasta 11:55, 10 November 2006 (UTC)

My RfA

Hi Daveydweeb. I wanted to thank you with flowers (well, flower) taking the time to participate in my RfA, which was successful. I'm very grateful for your kind words in support. I assure you I'll continue to serve the project to the best of my ability and strive to use the tools wisely. Please do let me know if I can be of assistance and especially if you spot me making an error in future. Many thanks once again. Yours, Rockpocket 08:33, 10 November 2006 (UTC)

My RfA:

Thank you so very much for voting support in my RfA. However, I have withdrawn due to reasons that a stressed user would withdraw under. I'm sorry I have failed you & your expectations. Thanks, Spawn Man 08:57, 10 November 2006 (UTC)

RfA thanks!

My brand-spankin' new mop!

RfA Standards

Just thought I'd let you know your RfA standards rock! I second you on the fact that Wikipedia's RfA "Requirements" are a joke.

Cheers

RfA thanks

Thank you for the extra feathers on my wings!

Thank you so much, Daveydweeb, for your support in my RfA, which passed on November 11, 2006, with a final tally of 82/0/2. I am humbled by the kind support of so many fellow Wikipedians, and I vow to continue to work and improve with the help of these new tools. Should you have any request, do not hesitate to contact me. Best regards, Húsönd 20:50, 11 November 2006 (UTC)

WP Weekly 5

Hi! Is the interview done "live" (i.e. you must interview everyone at the same time) or is it recorded? If it is the former then I will be more flexible (e.g. getting up at 5am local time as was requested last time!). If it is recorded to be made available at a later time, then I'd prefer Sunday 17:00 UTC - Monday 05:00 UTC, or Tuesday at 01:30-05:00, 15:00-16:00, 17:00-21:00 UTC. Will it be a one-on-one interview, or a group discussion?

Current/recent events in the world of offline Wikipedia content:

  • Last weekend the Polish Wikipedia finished reviewing 250,000 articles for their DVD release - that will be published very shortly. Contact User:Kpjas or User:Polimerek for more details.
  • Today (Nov 11) article reviewing for the English Wikipedia:Version 0.5 ends, and the team aims to have the collection ready for release by the end of the month.
  • November 14, User:Kelson is seeing a demo of software for offline releases, prepared by a software company in Paris he has been working with. If the demo is successful, it is likely that en will use this for Version 0.5, and fr will begin work on their equivalent of Version 0.5.
  • Very soon? One MartinbotII is approved for our use on en (should be any day now!), we will begin testing the use of this bot to collate automatically lists of articles for offline release. This bot will use our existing collection of 176,000 assessed articles as a source. The list is growing fast, it is currently assessed by 170 different projects.
  • Soon - User:BozMo will release WPCD2 through a children's charity, see Wikipedia:Version 1.0 Editorial Team/Test Version, probably in the next month or so.
  • Sometime soon? The latest DVD from the German Wikipedia is supposed to be coming out soon, but the German folks seem to be keeping it very quiet!

I hope these will give us plenty to talk about! Walkerma 21:38, 11 November 2006 (UTC)

question

Hi. Just got a talk from you saying "thanks for my page creations/will be deleted". What pages were they? You've deleted perfectly valid content. Thedreamdied 20:35, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

Ok. Thanks for letting me know. Im not entirely sure i know why they were deleted though, they were 3 short entries about bittorent clients that are mentioned here: [link].

South coast parkour

Hello Davey, in regards to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_coast_parkour im trying to create a page to show the work that has gone into the www.scpk.info forums and the work that is in fact coming out of it, scpk has held multiple shows of great importance and works very closely with Parkour.net and Worldwide jam! gimme some time to add more content and you will see for yourself Mike 01:42, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

Why, thanks for thanking me for the work on the transcript!

I suppose I'll go off and do some more now. ;-) JesseW, the juggling janitor 11:11, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

In re: Barking drunk

Sorry about that, I don't normally do Newpage patrol and I am a bit new to the deletion process. --Eastlaw 01:23, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

WWPC Special Ep 1

Hey Wang, I finished the transcript, there were a couple of words I couldn't catch though (sounded tech-y to me). Mind having a once-over? Cheers, riana_dzasta 04:40, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

Can't you just slow the playspeed down? That's what I did - I'm not a super typist or anything... :) riana_dzasta 08:04, 15 November 2006 (UTC)
It's a bit annoying, granted... and you have to pause it every so often anyway. Still, if you don't particularly enjoy doing it, I'll do it for ya - I worked as a receptionist for 6 months before I finally went insane with boredom, so I'm used to dictation and stuff. riana_dzasta 09:43, 15 November 2006 (UTC)
Hehe! I wouldn't particularly enjoy it, mind :p But you're doing the hardest job with the editing, so I'll take up the slack on this end. I was just thinking whether it would be appropriate to link relevant terms? The point of doing the transcript (I think) is to give people information, and I think links to things like Larry's blog, metaterms like inclusionism, deletionism etc, might be helpful for people browsing through. Watchufink? riana_dzasta 10:27, 15 November 2006 (UTC)
Great minds, and all that... I'll link what I can find, feel free to run through it later and tell me if I've linked incorrectly. *hopes CZ links won't be barred by the spamfilter or anything like that* riana_dzasta 10:45, 15 November 2006 (UTC)
Hey, sure! I probably won't be able to do a transcript before the weekend, though. By the way, Methodical Culturalism seems to be methodischer kulturalismus - God bless Google Translator... riana_dzasta 10:57, 15 November 2006 (UTC)
de:Methodischer Kulturalismus. Saved ya a minute or two :) riana_dzasta 11:24, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

← Hahaha, that's funny. You should see the talkpage then, I tried running it through the translator, and it doesn't sound friendly at all... riana_dzasta 11:36, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

Done. riana_dzasta 11:47, 15 November 2006 (UTC)
o.O It wasn't that great, I just used my Google Powahs... *blushes* riana_dzasta 01:06, 16 November 2006 (UTC)
Well, I guess I am kind of amazing and brilliant. You've got a point. :p riana_dzasta 01:31, 16 November 2006 (UTC)
Heh, awwww. OK, enough of this Wikithing, I have to get out there and revise electrochem *ugh*. Also, if I read the EA MfD page one more time, I might just say something incivil - there are some really good arguments on both sides, but oh-so-many crappy ones... Take care, you. Oh, and my little Presario struggled too much with downloading that MP3 last night, so I'll give it a listen when I'm not attempting to do so many things with my computer at once, k? riana_dzasta 01:38, 16 November 2006 (UTC)

RFA Thanks

Thanks!
Thanks for your input on my (nearly recent) Request for adminship, which regretfully achived no consensus, with votes of 68/28/2. I am grateful for the input received, both positive and in opposition, and I'd like to thank you for your participation.

b-day

I know this is early but... == A Happy Birthday From Randfan ==

Dear {{subst:BASEPAGENAME}},

The Wikipedia Birthday Committee, myself, and Bearly541 wish you a very happy birthday! Enjoy your special day. Hooray! --Randfan please talk talk to me!

This guy is your personal B-day red panda! Congrats for being one year older and staying with Wikipedia this long. Much too many people create new accounts, do a few minor edits, and just quit. Happy B-day! —¡Randfan! {{subst:CURRENTTIME}}, {{subst:CURRENTDAY}} {{subst:CURRENTMONTHNAME}} {{subst:CURRENTYEAR}} (UTC); so how does it feel? :)

Hee! Thank you! :) I'm now old enough to quaff, so this is -- in my opinion -- a momentous occasion. ;) Daveydweeb (chat/patch) 00:05, 17 November 2006 (UTC)

Happy birthday! Here's an igloo for you. :-) Regards. --Húsönd 02:50, 17 November 2006 (UTC)

OMG! Happy birthday *does little birthday dance* Hope you're having an awesome time today, and make sure you party very hard tonight. Words of wisdom I received on my 18th:

  • Water helps with hangovers
  • Panadol helps with hangovers
  • Bananas help with hangovers
  • Vitamin B-12 helps with hangovers
  • Tomato juice helps with hangovers
  • Celery helps with hangovers

... you get an idea of the sort of people I hang out with. :D Enjoy your day, and make the most of it, 'cause it only happens once! riana_dzasta 04:42, 17 November 2006 (UTC)

My happy birthdays here! --Ginkgo100 talk · e@ 05:01, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
Happy birthday! Enjoy your day! Jam01 06:24, 17 November 2006 (UTC)

^________^ Thank you! I've had a great day so far (playing Paper Mario 2 until 3AM, going to work only to be told I wasn't needed and could go home -- in a good way -- and then wandering off to see Alexis instead, getting a blister in the process), and I'm going out tonight for dinner with family. It hasn't involved naked drunkenness, nor has it involved partying of any kind, but it's been very memorable and I'm very grateful for the birthday wishes. :) Daveydweeb (chat/patch) 06:55, 17 November 2006 (UTC)

Teehee

Well, I... no, I was going to defend myself there, but then I realised that it was pointless. I was just feeling mean ;) riana_dzasta 02:42, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

Okie dokes, I'm just trying to fix something on the chem portal, and then I'll scoot over there. *breathless with anticipation* riana_dzasta 10:41, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
Reviewed ya. Lemme know watchufink. riana_dzasta 11:18, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
Well, if you need to find the deletionist cabal, they've been active around anything with the words "miscellany for deletion" and "Esperanza" in them... tsk tsk, I'm biased. But some things are for the better. riana_dzasta 12:02, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
Oh, but don't you know? They're sneaky buggers... one minute they're at MfD... the next they're at AfD... and everyone in a while, they rear their ugly heads at TfD and CfD... it gives me the heeby jeebies. Hey, when you get a spare minute, take a look at Portal:Chemistry. I've been giving it a facelift over the past week or so :) riana_dzasta 12:07, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
Heh, green on grey is still better than what was there before, it was a kind of black on salmon. Rather boring. So you don't like green on grey, eh? What do you recommend? riana_dzasta 12:16, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
Wang, you need to hang around the Village Pump more often, if you haven't heard of automatic edit summaries ;) Don't worry, it's really new, they've only been using them for the past 3-4 days. riana_dzasta 12:22, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
I know! I fully retract all the nice things I said about you in your review ;) Yeah, it's great for RC-patrollers. I love all the new edit summary changes they've made. Especially editor summary preview! I've been waiting for that for as long as I've been around here (Lord, I am SUCH a geek...) riana_dzasta 12:29, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

Yeah, probably - I think they go to the person who had the marbles to go ask the Mediawiki people to actually get that feature going ;) riana_dzasta 12:35, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

By the way, you're not working on the Ep 5 transcript, are you? I'm upto 12:00, trying to get it up to 15:00 before I go to bed. riana_dzasta 12:46, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
OK, I probably won't get around to it tonight either, I want to do some archiving stuff on the portal :s Take care, and I'll finish the transcript by the end of this week. Night! riana_dzasta 12:56, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
I'm outta here, but lemme know what you think of our brand new colour scheme :) riana_dzasta 10:51, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
Thanks! I couldn't resist keeping the green :) riana_dzasta 11:27, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
