[edit] Spammer listings
I just edited the article about Billy Williams, and wanted to caution you about the U.S. principle of "innocent until proven guilty". Stating that someone is a "notorious spammer" if the person denies being one can be grounds for a lawsuit, which, even if frivolous, would be bad for Wikipedia.
I'm certainly not saying don't write about spammers! What I'm suggesting is that you make distinctions between admitted spammers, convicted spammers, and those who are merely alleged to be spammers.
That having been said, thanks for contributing to Wikipedia! Steve Casburn 08:56, 13 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Macross 7 etc.
'Glad to help out! I tried to avoid spoilers when I can, although the articles might need the spoiler tag for people who haven't seen beyond the first episodes. The Minor/Major/Master classifications are unofficial, as are some of the names that Central Anime uses. Fortunately, the Macross 7 home video liner notes from Japan's Bandai Visual does have what might be considered official Romanizations. How the names are written now — Bandai Visual's Romanization (漢字とかカナ Hepburn Romanization) — looks good now. Egan Loo 18:43, 1 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Space Battleship Yamato
Most of this information can be found in a very cool book [1] that I highly, highly recommend to Yamato fans. I don't know if the Comet Empire is based on anything or not. Zwordar and Sabera are plays on "Sword" and "Saber". I got the info about Valsey (I didn't want to spell it "Balsey"; do you agree?) being named after Halsey from the Japanese wikipedia. Yabu... I don't know if he was ever listed on the ending credits. Part of the reason was that he was voiced by Kenichi Ogata, who was already credited as Analyzer. Apparently he was also played by Michihiro Ikemizu very early on. There was a lot of shuffling of supporting voice actors during the first season.
- Re: ズォ. It's that way in my book and on Japanese wikipedia. [2]
You are correct, "ズォ" is very, very unusual. Now that you mention it, I'm not sure I've seen it used anywhere else. That's probably why it's been written as "ズオ" sometimes.
- Why I hate the spelling "Balsey": Do you have the term "ballsy" [3] in the UK?
- Zurvival: for some reason, the English word "survival" is used in Japanese and written サバイバル. (You'd think it would be written "サーバイバル", but it isn't.) The White Comet character's name is so similar (ザバイバル) that I'm sure that's what they were going for.
- I'd still recommend that book even to a person who couldn't read any Japanese; there are lots of pics of every character, ship, planet, etc. from the whole series. Evan1975 17:27, 28 March 2006 (UTC)
- Valsey's ship's cannon His ship is the Medalūza [4], right? It says the ship has a "Flame/Blaze Direct Hit Cannon". Evan1975 19:18, 28 March 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, kaen chokugeki hou is exactly right. Do you have that same NTSC Hong Kong DVD that I do? Evan1975 22:56, 28 March 2006 (UTC)
- Re: Space Battleship Yamato (spaceship) - Looks great! Do you remember something about a "hado cartridge" or somesuch being added in one of the movies? I seem to recall that. I'm going to have to rent the crummy R1 Yamato DVDs to try and refresh my memory. Evan1975 19:11, 31 March 2006 (UTC)
- I never noticed to stripes on the guns; I'll have to keep an eye out for it. Don't quote me on this, but I think those cartridges debuted in Be Forever Yamato. I really should just shell out the 8000yen or whatever for the Japanese R2 Be Forever. Evan1975 00:54, 1 April 2006 (UTC)
- Goer->Gör - You can spell his name as the more accurate "Gör" if you want; I was just afraid English speakers might pronounce "Gör" as "gore". Putting "クロイツ" into a search engine turns up the words "Kreuz" (cross), so I went with that spelling. There is a video game character also called "ハイデルン", and they romanzie it Heidern. Evan1975 05:53, 5 April 2006 (UTC)
- Ship schematics - No, my book doesn't really have any schematics like that. There are a ton of Yamato books out there and I have very few of them. He lists some books in his bibliography and a few web sites [5]. Evan1975 06:59, 17 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Kanoe X.JPG
Thanks for uploading Image:Kanoe X.JPG. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. (ESkog)(Talk) 16:31, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Image:MolloyDavros.jpg
Hello, Dave-ros. An automated process has found and will an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, and thus is being used under fair use that is in your userspace. [edit] Space Battleship Yamato page being messed with
An elementary school kid (User:Danieltiger45) has been messing with the Space Battleship Yamato wiki; putting the anime infoboxes in the wrong order, taking out references to Great Yamato, etc. You might want to keep an eye on it with me and revert his bad edits. [edit] Kamui Shirō
I didn't notice that. As I've explained to other editors on other occasions, I do a lot of copying-and-pasting when editing and might miss some things.
On the subject of a Kamui article, I think it'd be better to beef up his section in the List of X characters first. In fact, I redirected the Kamui solo article to the list, once before. I've read some interviews online where Ohkawa talks of the character's origin and creations that could be useful.
I won't be working on it right away, though, as I'd like to finish with the X/1999 article before working on the character and setting sub-articles. I made some inquiries on the talk page, could you look them over?
And thank you for showing an interest. The X articles seemed dead for the longest time.--Nohansen 21:41, 14 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Would announcing the availability of Tijuana Toads on DVD or streaming be spam?
Hi Dave-ros,
Would an announcement from the company that Tijuana Toads is being released on DVD, or something similiar, count as spam on Wikipedia? Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.129.196.36 (talk) 00:38, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
- Writing this here in case you're on a dynamic IP address. I don't think it would be a problem just so long as it's not written like an advert ("available at all good video stores")! If it's written as a statement of encyclopaediac fact, preferably with a link to an official announcement (not a page on Amazon), it should be fine. Dave-ros (talk) 17:37, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:05, 17 May 2008 (UTC)
