[edit] Welcome! And explanation

Hi Davaclarke! I'm sorry for the harsh welcome you recieved for The Gold Bug Variations. The user who nominated it for speedy deletion didn't how the article fit into an encyclopedic context, and I guess didn't have the patience/time to look furthern themselves. User:Jpgordon saw that it didn't qualify under the Wikipedia standards for Wikipedia:Speedy deletions at all, and removed that tag.

I happened to notice it on the Special:Recent changes page, and I quickly added the {{cleanup}} and {{POV check}} tags to get at what seemed to be the problems with the article. And I put it in Category:Novels. You did a great job at addressing the point of view, so it's more like an encyclopedia entry than a book review! Now you can see how I "Wikified" it: identifying the author, linking to related articles as they come up in the text, etc. Now we've got the start of a real encyclopedia article. :)

Now that you've got more of a hang of how we edit here, I hope you stick around! Peace, Samaritan 22:26, 18 Dec 2004 (UTC)

By the way, to sign your name with the date and time like I just did - the standard way to sign yourself on Wikipedia:Talk pages or vote pages or so on here - use four tildes, like so: ~~~~

(Clumsily, I put the above on User:Davaclarke where I should have put it here on User talk:Davaclarke. User:Davaclarke is just for you. - S.)
