David Eldar is the youngest youth scrabble champion in Australia, he is the youngest player ever to reach Australia's top ten. He first played Scrabble when he was five years old. At eleven years he tried playing online and was soon hooked. When he turned twelve he joined a club, then played his first tournament soon after in March 2003.


A few weeks later he jumped into the deep end, playing in the 'Open Division' at the National Championships in Adelaide. It was a strong tournament held over two days, with most players at least twice David's age ─ and others much older than that! Amazingly, David won convincingly, with 11 wins from 14 games. David's next major challenge came two months later, playing in the 'Open Division' at the Victorian State Championships. He turned in another stunning performance over two days, again winning the section.


He has competed in the numerous tornaments and has had placed in all of them such as the World Scrabble Championship. David Eldar is a student at the King David School in Armadale, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. At the young age of seventeeen years he is been very succesful appearing on many different popular television shows, includuding Today Tonight, Good Morning Australia and ABC News. He has also won an abundant amount of money , prizes and trophys.


The first World Youth Scrabble Championships were held in Wollongong (which David Eldar came first) in, Australia 2006. Competitors from Australia, Bahrain, Canada, England, India, Kenya, Malaysia, Oman, Philippines,Singapore, Sri Lanka and Thailand competed. WYSC was open to anyone under the age of 18 on January 1 2006. The two day event, which consisted of 20 games using the Aupair System. The top 2 people played off in a best of 5 series, which David Eldar pulled through and won.
