I'm a grad student in physics at Boston University (BU). Originally from the suburbs of Detroit, I graduated from Amherst College in 2006 with majors in physics, (European) history and math. My main historical interests are the history of Russia and the Soviet Union, as well as the history of socialism, anarchism and communism.
I spent the summer of 2005 working at CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, preparing programs to determine the mass of the top quark as part of the ATLAS experiment. At BU I'm focusing on computational physics, supported by an NSF/IGERT fellowship through BU's Center for Computational Science.
I sometimes write book reviews, which can be found on my personal Web site.
I am currently secretary of the Socialist Party of Boston and treasurer of the Socialist National Committee, so I try to limit my work on Socialist Party-related articles per WP:COI. I haven't completely stopped editing them, but do my best to do so from a neutral point of view, using only verifiable sources.
I first stumbled across Wikipedia in 2003, making occasional edits, often anonymously, sometimes under this account, which I created in 2004. However, I only started participating actively in 2006, when I discovered the joys of the watchlist, recent changes, and other tools. I like to keep things neat and tidy, so much of my recent activity has been disambiguation link repair, recent changes patrolling, fixing links, tags, and categories, and rewriting or rephrasing material that I think needs to be cleaned up. I especially enjoy in getting pages out of Category:Year of birth missing and Category:Uncategorised people.
I find userboxes a creative way to communicate information efficiently, so here they are: |
