I am Dave Lowe of Tampa, Florida, USA. I am a weblogger and been blogging since 2001. I am a very opinionated guy, so I should fit right in here! Currently, I am watching pages about Jericho, the TV series, and many Star Trek articles, including the one on the Akira Class Starship. Call it a hobby. I am a bit of a Trekkie Fanboy. I even run a fan club in my spare time.

[edit] So who is this Dave guy? And what, do you live in a dorm?

No. I don’t live in a dorm. I started DaveDorm with an idea to make a play on the sites like VoyeurDorm. You know, you can log in and look at Dave and see what he was doing at any time. It’s also from the latin dormiere which means “where to live”. Since I pretty much live online, then this is the place to find me. DaveDorm. Get it?

So I am this guy who lives online. I am a bipolar, which means I “suffer” from bipolar disorder. I can’t really say I suffer from it, as I am pretty happy with who I am and what I have turned out to be as a grown up.

I am married, I have four daughters and a son. I am happy with my relationship, thanks, so don’t ask. My wife is always worried that I will meet someone on the intarwebs and run away with her. Nah, I’m happy where I am today.

I am a computer help desk technician. I am a standard-issue lackey in a call center. I hold A+ Certification and a degree in Computer Networking. I am a Linux Geek. I primarily run Kubuntu as my distribution of choice, though I have dabbled in many distributions over the past 7 years.

I am also a Trekkie. I am an active member of STARFLEET - The International Star Trek Fan Association. My chapter is the ISS MacArthur where I serve as “captain”. See, in Star Trek fan clubs, your job in the organization corrresponds with a fictional role on the “ship”. The President is Captain, the Vice President is the First Officer, and so on. Silly, right? Hey, it’s a hobby and it keeps me off the streets and off the crack pipe.

I am also a big fan of karaoke. I don’t get out as much as I used to, but you may hear me in local karaoke dives crooning to oldies, 80’s pop and classic rock with a few new tunes sprinkled in to keep it interesting.

So that’s it, so far, maybe I’ll add more to this later.
