[edit] POV
The man may be a worthless or despicable person, to paraphrase many dictionaries, but we still need to be neutral about him! Rich Farmbrough. 18:58, 21 December 2005 (UTC)
- Hi Rich, I was the original editor who really fleshed out the article some yesterday. I was just writing from my memory about the guy so I didn't really go through to comb out the NPOV. Thanks for the copyedits. Note - this guy is really considered scum in Aus (he is a national celebrity for his antics) -- this should be reflected in the article. novacatz 03:31, 22 December 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Trading costs
Perhaps it might be worth mentioning the cost of selling shares? For example I am the proud possesor of 7 shares in a leading UK company. Were I to sell them through a trditional broker, I would end up out of pocket. I don't know what the AU situation is. Rich Farmbrough. 19:05, 21 December 2005 (UTC)
- The situation would be the very similar. Note that the parcels of shares that Tweed targets (being the demutualisation proceeds) generally would be around the A$800-A$3000 mark. This is certainly enough to defeat any trading costs for him. I don't think trading costs is an important part of this case, but you are welcome to add it if you feel important (but note, I just might edit it out if it isn't! <g> <g> <g>) novacatz 03:29, 22 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] In the news again...
More news, since he is currently targetting New Zealand shareholders of Tower Corporation. It seems likely that he has been (to some extent) successfully regulated against in Australia. I can provide a (slightly obscured, but open licensed) scan of an offer document I received today. Some URLs I have found, which aren't referenced currently. Also I notice that a bunch of the existing ones are no longer retrievable :-(
Anyway, some more background which is retrievable:
- http://www.fundsbits.com.au/articles/Tweed-alleges-AMP-overcharged_z25582.htm (summary of one missing article from The Australian)
- SMH, 13 October 2006: Tougher Tweed Clauses Sought
- The Australian, 25 October 2006: Beating Bottom Dwellers probably won't last :-( - they also have a point in suggesting that these companies should, as good practice, write to all of their shareholders immediately they see such offers made available.
- The Weekly Times, 1 November 2006: Share Shark Circles unfortunately there is no web reference for the original, and that is only partial :-(
- SMH, 3 November 2006: Regulator Reins in Tweed
- The Age, 3 November 2006: Watchdog puts a clamp on share dealer tweed
- TVNZ, 27 December 2006: AXA strengthens HK presence he starts targetting NZ shareholders with his newly registered company Colonial Capital Corporation Limited
- SMH, 4 May 2007: Low-ball offer targets Tower
- Stuff, 5 May 2007: Tower warns shareholders of low offer where they state that they will be writing to all shareholders about the offer (I haven't got one yet).

- My wife just got a letter of offer for IAG shares. $2.20 per share when they should be $4.45 per share. Scumbags. - 220.237.19.227 (talk) 09:55, 26 November 2007 (UTC)
