[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:David shire 2.jpg

Image:David shire 2.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 00:50, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Edits, Jan. 29, 2008

Something is terribly awry with these recent edits, I'm not sure what to do here. Also, there is the name of the editor: "David Shire". Assuming good faith, WP:COI may be involved here. Assuming something else, this may just be an inexperienced editor or a WP:HOAX. Thoughts?JeanColumbia (talk) 15:36, 29 January 2008 (UTC)

Based on the just-posted message, I'll assume that the edist were done in good faith by THE David Shire. Here is what I propose: I'll revert to the article as it existed just before the edits in question, and then bring the article up-to-date, using the usual reliable, verifiable sourcing. I'll start this work, at least the reverting, now, and will bring the article up-to-date this afternoon. (Don't worry, as we know nothing is ever lost in Wikipedia-land, but I'm printing out the existing article right now for ease of editing). Should this not be ok, I'm sure there will be comments!

I'm also putting this note here lest anyone think-or fear-that I am vandalizing. JeanColumbia (talk) 13:21, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

In short, the formatting was f'd up and some of the data (like the URLs for the external links) was lost because somebody, either the real David Shire or someone posing rather ham-handedly cut-and-pasted the rendered text in. I don't mean to be hurtful, but this was an amateur mistake, and like in many other things, people really shouldn't participate until the get an idea of what models to follow. There are safe ways to add info, and unsafe ones. Now after this, the article will have to be massively restructured, or at least re-edited. Yeesh. SWalkerTTU (talk) 08:43, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
