[1] seems to be suggesting David Shepherd MBE is deceased - look at the bottom of the page. It does look like he's still alive on much of the internet, and it could potentially be referring to a different David Shepherd MBE, but that's unlikely, and it doesn't refer to David Shepherd OBE, I know he's still alive, but it definately warrents further looking into.
