[edit] Previous AfD Nomination

This article was nominated for deletion on 15 October 2005. There was consensus to keep the article. Rob Church Talk | FAHD 10:40, 20 October 2005 (UTC)

Lest the subject come up again, I will vouch for David Madore not being a "total unknown". I reference his article on free speech frequently when explaining to less technical people why speech can never be completely restricted. I also reference Unlambda whenever explaining the concept of an esoteric programming language to someone. Crag 05:16, 5 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] NPOV: Paragraph on David Madore's egocentrism

There is no proof that David Madore is the author of this article. Even if he was, this does not warrant a personal attack. Please remove or rewrite this paragraph in a NPOV, or tag the whole page for deletion. —Meidosemme 11:17, 16 September 2005 (UTC)

OK. I wrote this naughty remark, and that was not pretty fair, I admit it. But let's say I contest the interest of having a entry in the encyclopedia for a total unknown. I wanted to create a reaction. If every dude around who's got a PhD plays this game, this will be quite a mess. I leave it to you to take a decision, as I don't feel qualified. Please feel free to erase this paragraph, or anything. (Anonymous coward)
PS: Finally I erased it myself. Note that it seems that the whole article 'Madore' was deleted form the french Wiki.
Just to clarify: I (David Madore) did not write this page and I don't know who did. I don't think there was any serious reason to write the article but, now that it's there, I guess it might as well stay (on the other hand, I won't object seriously if someone wants it deleted). Evidently there are a great number of much more important French mathematicians who don't have an entry in Wikipedia (but then, we should probably rather strive to create those pages than to remove this one). The more or less serious argument I can see in favor of having a David Madore article is that there is one on Unlambda and I personally like to see an article (or even a stub) about the inventor/author/inceptor/whatever of something whenever that something itself has an article. But that's not a very strong reason and, again, if someone strongly thinks this article should be deleted, so be it. (On the other hand, personal attacks are definitely unwelcome.) --Gro-Tsen 10:37, 24 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Banned from Usenet

I removed:

Madore entered Usenet folklore when he was banned for five years in 1999.

AFAIK (1) he wasn't banned from Usenet (nobody can ban you from Usenet, unless you say you're banned each time somebody suggests you piss off because he doesn't agree with you) and (2) he isn't famous for being believed to have been banned from Usenet. Apokrif 03:33, 22 January 2006 (UTC)
