Talk:David Hasselhoff

[edit] Uh, Baywatch?
The sections jump from "Early Acting Career" to "European Popularity" to "Later Career" without any mention of his 11 years on Baywatch, except in passing reference in other roles. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.202.252.109 (talk) 09:28, 25 November 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Vandalism?
Anyone have any idea what this means? "It has also been recorded that both Sitem and Sinem Mustafa, two prominent gay activists, are Mr. Hasselhoff's #1 fans."

[edit] Hasselhoff
His apperances in the series of Baywatch and Knight Rider were very popular. After being so popular Fanbase's all over the world were for him. He had some success in music and once was asked to perform at the Berlin Wall. After his great success, in baywatch, he has played in minor roles in popular movies such as click and dogdeball.
[edit] "Role in ending Communism" ?!
What on earth? He wrote a song some people in Eastern Europe took to, so he now has an undefinable but certain role in ending Communism?! I think someone wrote this crap as a joke. If him writing an anthem some people under Communism liked awards him a role in ending Communism then I guess we need to mention the Scorpions ("Winds of Change") as well. I suppose they, too, were great anti-Soviet crusaders. Shocking news you sometimes learn here in the wonderful world of Wikipedia: musicians ended the Cold War. Rocked me like a hurricane.
This is no joke, cf. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/magazine/3465301.stm Relaxel (talk) 07:32, 20 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Dodgeball appearance
It is unclear if he is the coach, but it is clear that he is not scolding the team to play better - as they have been eliminated in the first round - but rather berating them for losing. Corrected accordingly.
[edit] Interview
Any clear reason why this section was deleted? AgentFade2Black 01:15, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
I added it because it seemed relevant, significant and new information which would augment the entry. As it's neither negative nor positive - infact most of it is direct quotations - i can't see why anyone would want to delete it.
Thanks for reinstating it! GWP 12:19, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] European Popularity
And again I can assure you that Hasselhoff is not a huge, revered star in europe. It is not true he reached the peak of his, worldwide success, with Baywatch. Oh and by the way Jerry Lewis is not a big star in France either. --Tresckow 01:57, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
- And here I thought Europe had finally found some culture. Nodekeeper 08:42, 24 June 2007 (UTC)
- Does he speak any German? Is he fluent? Oboemastah 09:07, 30 June 2007 (UTC)
Wow, Nodekeeper! Quite an ignorant statement. He also crossed over to a successful music career, primarily in Austria, Switzerland, and most notably Germany. This statement is not true. He was successfull in thos three countries. But the one he was most successful was Austria (not Australia, for you Nodekeeper). He was also successfull in the UK, as you can check on the chartlists shown on the german wikipedia. And no Hasselhof speaks no german.--Tresckow 02:05, 20 July 2007 (UTC)
- Maybe not with your circle of friends, Tresckow, but European record sales say different. Proxy User (talk) 02:17, 26 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Vandal -death
Can someone please give a warning to [1]. This user changed the article to say he died. Samaster1991 20:47, 26 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Footloose (1984)
hasselhoff was not in footloose.
[edit] De-proseline effort
I've left the tag there in case it's not complete as it might be. Anyway, I've tried to prose it as requested. Someone can remove tag if everyone's happy. Cheers, Julia Rossi 02:25, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Undue weight?
This article suffers from such problems with undue weight that I am going to tag it withan NPOV template. At the moment, it devotes one line to Knight Rider, and doesn't refer at all to Baywatch beyond a mention in the lead, despite the fact that those are the roles that made Hasselhoff famous; on the other hand, it devotes five paragraphs to a single interview he did in 2006, and six paragraphs to his alcohol problems. Anyone reading who hadn't heard of David Hasselhoff would think he was famous for being an alcoholic rather than an actor. It's as if our article on William Shatner didn't mention Star Trek, but had five pages about his singing career. This seriously needs to be rewritten to promote something closer to a neutral view of the subject (and comply with our biographies of living persons policy). [edit] Hasselhoff and Bates???
David Hasselhoff did not attend Bates College. (13drew (talk) 18:21, 24 March 2008 (UTC))
[edit] Origin
Has he any german origin?? His sirname looks like german —Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.131.154.106 (talk) 22:02, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
Yes, Hasselhoff is a common German surname. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.245.75.60 (talk) 11:39, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
Uh common? I live in germany for 3 decades now but never encountered "Hasselhoff" as surname here. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.35.96.150 (talk) 20:31, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
The name Hasselhoff may be related to the common Dutch surname Hazelhof. But this does not explain anything about his popularity in Germany of course... 84.81.43.80 (talk) 07:48, 11 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Surgery and Divorce papers
On April 22, 2008, Hasselhoff, 55, was recovering after removal / treatment of something above his eye at the University of California, Los Angeles Medical Centre. On October, he was treated in a hospital for alcoholism. Hasselhoff's divorce settlement obliged him to pay 25,000 US dollars a month for support Pamela Bach and their two teenage daughters, as they would share joint custody[1] - --Florentino floro (talk) 08:54, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Born Where?
The official web site of Havre de Grace, MD (north of Baltimore by several miles) lists David Hasselhoff as one of the "famous" people born there. It was presumably at Harford Memorial Hospital, the only hospital in the area. His birthplace is listed as Baltimore twice in the article. Teachertime (talk) 12:39, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] German?
He's German! My German friend said so. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.60.94.9 (talk) 10:39, 1 June 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Tabloids
Several (most if not all actually) of the Alcohol Allegations are from "tabloid" sources. Can such "sources" be used? If reliability of the source is a requirement, than I would say not.Proxy User (talk) 14:28, 4 June 2008 (UTC)
