bias?

  • We need a little more information if you are going to dispute the quality of this article. It looks great to me. DrKC9N 17:43, 7 December 2005 (UTC)

I'm going to go through and edit the main piece, just to make it flow a little better. As it is, it seems like the sentences are kind of abrubt and I feel like theres a lot more information out there to be added on the band. Jahen86 13:45, 27 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Videos From David Crowder

Should videos from the David Crowder Band Website be mentioned as well?

[edit] Band Name

I had just created a "David Crowder* Band" page when I saw one already existed under "David Crowder Band." I have redirected and merged my (minor) additional information with this article. As of now, the article is consistent within itself. But which name should be used? Nearly every album has it with the asterisk, but nowhere else on their site can I find it. It has the star on the Music Inspired by the Chronicles of Narnia track/artist listing (it's like that on the actual album, not just the Wiki page). Let me know what you think... DrKC9N 17:43, 7 December 2005 (UTC)

I believe that it would be much more useful for people searching for the band if the title was sans asterix. On iTunes and Amazon the band is listed w/o the asterix, making it much easier to find, so I think keeping it as it is would be best. Perhaps adding a section to clarify that the "official" name is David Crowder* Band would be apropos. Jahen86 17:56, 26 April 2005 (UTC)

Considering that the sans-asterisk version wins Google by about a million hits, and also that the band does not refer to itself with the asterik in its own bio, you might want to rethink this. Few, if any, media outlets include the asterisk in their reports on the band. Woodshed 12:07, 23 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] iTunes Debut

I distinctly remember them rising to the #1 spot on iTunes. I believe I still have their e-mail announcement from that. If I can find it i'm going to change that and add a little more information about their impact on modern secular and Christian music. Jahen86 19:47, 26 April 2005 (UTC)

  • Do it, I know that they did. Just find a source... DrKC9N 03:25, 30 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Jason Solley's status

Jason Solley's name has been replaced in the "members" section two different times now. I reverted the first, because the method looked suspicious (Solley wasn't moved to a "former members" section, the roles, i.e. guitar, vocals, mandolin weren't changed, and no cite was provided). I tried to find confirmation of his departure from the band before doing anything, but I couldn't, and I still can't. I checked the DCB website, MySpace page, etc, and I didn't see anything. If it is true, and someone can provide confirmation, it would be better to make the adjustments I mentioned above instead of simply replacing the name. Solley shouldn't have been completely removed from the page. Can anyone provide any more info here? -- Fru1tbat 22:53, 2 November 2006 (UTC)

The band formally issued a statement of Solley's departure on their website yesterday on this page: http://www.davidcrowderband.com/news/articles.php3?id=000219 . The statement also mentioned their new guitarist, Taylor Johnson. Last night I added the section "Former Members" and added Johnson to the "Members" section. --144.96.9.221 14:03, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
Thanks! It's about time they said something about it... I updated the infobox to reflect the current lineup (and some other things while I was at it, to conform to various style guides, etc) --Fru1tbat 14:26, 1 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] to * or not to *...

All right...I know there's been discussion on the dispute between David Crowder Band and David Crowder* Band, but should we at least normalize it? The article title is sans asterisk, but references within the article include the pesky punctuation. I suggest we normalize to one method, move it if necessary, and add a line stating that the band is "(Also known as...)"

Discussion? (Dangit, I keep forgetting... David 08:26, 11 January 2007 (UTC))

Well, there's a redirect at David Crowder*Band, so at least it's covered. Per WP:NC(CN), I would say leave the asterisk out. Also, per WP:NC#Special characters, I'd say the asterisk qualifies as a logo symbol only (since the band, for example, uses "DCB" in their news postings on their website, not "DC*B", and "david crowder band" in their home page title). Actually, I'd be inclined to remove most of the asterisks from the article... Is it really necessary to say "The David Crowder*Band won ..." for example? The Dove Awards site doesn't use the asterisk... I think it could be considered entirely "logo-only" and largely eliminated. --Fru1tbat 15:05, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
I'd tend to agree. Logo only.David 03:33, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

As there were no objections, I took care of it. All * removed, reference made to it in new "name" section. Also removed "The," as per trivia note, then moved the trivia note to "name" section, as well. David 17:18, 15 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Unsourced External Link

Removed

from external links, as there is no mention of this anywhere in the article. Feel free to add the correct reference in-article, and re-add this.

[edit] Narnia Award

What award did they win for their contribution to the Narnia project? This should be more specific. David 15:24, 8 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] David Crowder and David Crowder Band

David Crowder redirects to this article. Do you think it should be its own article? --StormCommander 02:20, 22 March 2007 (UTC)

i think so... david crowder is a different person than the band, isnt he???Notofthisworld1john1:7 01:55, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Taylor Johnson's status

I've noticed that Taylor Johnson was removed from the lineup. I put it back up because I'm not aware of any official announcements of Taylor leaving the band. Can anyone comment on this issue? LukeLengl 19:59, 17 May 2007 (UTC)

I'm not sure on his status, but I do know his photo is no longer on the DCB main web page, and has been replaced by a question mark.--Gryphenix 05:33, 18 May 2007 (UTC)

It is now official. Mark Waldrop is the new electric guitarist for the DCB. Taylor Johnson is gone. Go to the main David Crowder page and click on the "Them are his friends" news story. --Gryphenix 05:00, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Davidcrowderband.jpg

Image:Davidcrowderband.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 00:48, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Release Date for Remedy

There has been no official release date anywhere that I have checked, including the official site and blogs, so the source for the September release needs to be be checked, or the date removed.--Gryphenix 06:07, 12 June 2007 (UTC)

Done! =David(talk)(contribs) 18:21, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

Alright. Via a lengthy interactive journey at remedyiscoming.com, the album's website, the David Crowder Band has now indeed confirmed the September 25 date, so I will be putting it back up.--Gryphenix 06:03, 17 June 2007 (UTC)

Please reference that article specifically before putting that back up. Thanks! =David(talk)(contribs) 23:06, 17 June 2007 (UTC)

Here is the reference: www.dcb01.com/remedy/whatif.php4. For some reason, I cannot get it to change using my computer right now, so if someone else could change it, that would be great.--Gryphenix 19:47, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Removed link

I took out this link:

as it seems to be irrelevant. Funny, but not mentioned in the article at all. =David(talk)(contribs) 18:25, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Guitar Hero Trivia Revert War

I removed this until we can get a consensus.

*In recent live performances of a new song called " " David Crowder plays a modified guitar-peripheral similar to that used in the video game [[Guitar Hero]], in which the buttons actually play notes and sound effects. <ref>{{cite web | url=http://youtube.com/watch?v=nemS2grofg4 | title=YouTube Video: David Crowder Band - (Title Unknown)}}</ref>

There's been a minor revert war going on about the title of the song. Can we get a consensus please? The second reference on here was either OR or an unreliable source. Please, someone, find a moderately-official link to backup the title. Thanks! =David(talk)(contribs) 07:52, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
