David Chernoff has played a pivotal role in the development of the modern Messianic Jewish Movement. His father, Martin Chernoff, set a modern-day precedent of starting an independent Messianic Jewish synagogue (Congregation Beth Yeshua in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania). Martin died in 1985, and David took over Martin's role as Senior Messianic Rabbi. Since that time, David has earned the reputation as a "Messianic Rabbi's Rabbi" because of his experience. David's role (in the development of the Messianic Jewish Movement) has also extended to the international level.
