I don't know, I doubt if it was for the same reasons that someone like Dean Martin did, considering by the time he was coming up Francis Ford Coppola was already established. I also can;t imagine it was to avoid confusion with another person. Aaron Bowen 23:11, 5 May 2007 (UTC)

According to "The Sopranos: the Book" Chase's paternal grandmother changed the family name from DeCesare to Chase. --- Leeferdude 07:45, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

"David Chase (born David DeCesare—although some sources list his birth name as David Del Cesare—August 22, 1945 in Mount Vernon, New York) is an American television writer, director and producer . The anglicized version of his name is puzzling, as "Cesare" translates into "Caesar" - not "Chase".

Wouldn't the Italian last name DeCesare be pronounced "De Chay-zaray"? Chase seems a natural phonetic anglicization of this- not all ethnic name changes are translations.

I've gone and removed the sentence in question.

According to this interview[1] Chase thought of the concept of The Sopranos before the movie came out, does anyone have any more info on that? It might not be true, as the interview says he came up with the idea but didn't tell anyone. Aaron Bowen 23:20, 5 May 2007 (UTC)

"Its premiere was delayed by the writers' strike, and it never recovered; Chase called it an "unjustly" failed series and it has something of a cult following."

Why the vandalism to this article??? Im just as upset as every other New Yorker over the lack of creativity for his choice in the Sopranos finale but why vandalize a Wikipedia article?

Because some us have been watching this show for almost a decade now, and expected -no deserved- a true to one of the greatest tv shows of all time. Did Tony die? Does he live? Did he go to jail or not? I don't know becase somebody decided that instead of ending the show he would suddenly pull the plug giving us a few of seconds of dead screen. What kind of an ending is that? This is the worst final episode of a tv series I've seen since Evangelion. (67.81.84.210 00:36, 12 June 2007 (UTC))

So? It's not your show, he wrote it. Good or bad, we have to accept it. I agree with the others, there are more adult ways to handle this situation than reacting like spoiled 10 year old brats.BigPoppa

That's still no reason to vandalize an article -- register your dissent on a discussion board.

Actually the reason is because it's funny, not because people actually care

according to imdb he is a credited writer on all 86 episodes but he is not credited in all the actual episodes as a writer. i know imdb can be wrong but for such a popular show you would think someone would have changed it by now? is this a weird wga rule?
