[edit] Where Brooks Grew Up

Where did someone find the info that he grew up in Stuy Town? My strong recollection is that he grew up on the Main Line outside Philadelphia, or at least spent significant time there, and graduated from Radnor HS. This is alluded to in the Phila. Mag. article referenced at the bottom of the page. See also: http://www.waynepa.com/History/wellknown/default.htm http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radnor_High_School That's correct - David grew up in Wayne, PA and graduated from Radnor High School in 1979. —Preceding unsigned comment added by StacyDutton (talk • contribs) 17:59, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Formative Years

David just stated tonight on the PBS NewsHour program that he got his biggest break working for W.F. Buckley Jr. straight out of College. He had written a parody bio. of Buckley in College. Buckley then visited the school and invited him to work for him directly from the stage. --166.84.254.33 (talk) 01:12, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Brooks considers himself a 'Neoconservative'

I've heard him say it on C-Span in (I believe) an event in memorium of Rabin. Plus he is a senior editor of the Weekly Standard, a magazine which considers itself neoconservative.-Jersey Devil 19:32, 29 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Other 'David Brooks'

Shouldn't there be a note of redirect to the pages on other David Brooks? Fsotrain09 20:36, 23 April 2006 (UTC)

Well, there's a disambiguation page now, so there's your answer. --Wizardman 18:29, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] "Second Gulf War"

I changed this wording to what 95% of people call the "Iraq War" - an invasion of Iraq; Kuwait was not a player. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 136.165.33.146 (talk) 17:53, 21 February 2007 (UTC).

[edit] NeoCon

David Brooks is a neocon / neoliberal, not a conservative.

[edit] Is he a naturalized American citizen?

I was wondering if he ever naturalized or if he still retains his Canadian citizenship.

[edit] Where He Grew Up

Regarding the subject of where David Brooks grew up, I can attest to the fact that he graduated from Radnor High School, in an affluent suburb of Philadelphia, as he was a classmate of mine in the Radnor class of '79. It's possible that he spent some earlier years living in NYC, but I can't vouch for that. —Preceding unsigned comment added by BchrisD (talk • contribs) 23:09, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Gay

Has he come out of the closet yet? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.153.192.15 (talk) 23:02, 20 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Philadelphia Magazine controversy

This is too trivial for inclusion in WP. I think the whole section should be deleted. But if others consider this incident a crucial revelation of Brooks' character, I propose reducing it to: "In 2004, a journalist asserted that Brooks had misrepresented the price of a surf-and-turf dinner in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, implying that it cost less than $20 whereas the actual price was $28.75. Brooks responded that the writer was being 'too pedantic.'" 4granite (talk) 07:48, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

I agree. Who frickin cares? Even the proposed reduction above remains inane. So basically, in a 30 year career, someone harshly critiqued an article by one of America's most prominent journalists? Wow. Shocker. Never would have expected such a thing. -Some guy. -5-21-08 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.197.231.130 (talk) 05:36, 23 May 2008 (UTC)

Did he coin the word 'Achievatron', if not can you direct me to another source? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.129.35.158 (talk) 05:43, 16 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Applebeegate

Applebeegate? Really? Not only is the name ridiculous, but is this even relevant? Mr. Brooks' point is obvious, whether or not Applebee's has a salad bar. I can't say anyone will care about this "controvoursey" come November, let alone after the election. The section should be eliminated. PFlats (talk) 17:36, 10 June 2008 (UTC)
