Talk:Davey Boy Smith
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
For Christ's sake, the man was from Wigan, not Leeds. He was born in Golborne, Wigan. I used to drive past his old house all the time. WIGAN. NOT LEEDS.
Yeah Golborne, what's more, the place he trained with Ted is in my village.:oD(193.118.251.61 10:54, 7 April 2006 (UTC))
- But he was billed as being from Leeds early in his WWF career[1]. It's a common thing in wrestling. The Steiner Brothers were always billed as being from Detroit, but coming from a suburb of Ann Arbor in reality.

[edit] Height
Was he really billed as 6ft 3? I'm sure I read he was about 5ft 11, which seems much more likely-The article on The British Bulldogs(tag team) states 5ft 11 too. I know that Wrestlers are often billed with exaggerated heights and weights, but I can't believe anyone would expect us to think he was that tall. He was always clearly shorter than a lot of the guys billed at 6"1 e.g Shawn Michaels or Bret Hart. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 82.39.155.192 (talk) 23:59, 17 March 2007 (UTC).
[edit] Requested move
The British Bulldog → Davey Boy Smith – A Google search for "'The British Bulldog' wrestler" returns 25,500 results, while a search for "Davey Boy Smith" returns 43,700 results. The latter name is clearly more popular

Move completed as requested, per consensus here on talk. Jonathunder 19:08, 11 January 2006 (UTC)
The Bulldog was a huge WWF star in the 80s and 90s... can we see this article expanded vastly???
GREAT JOB!
Adding back the contract buy-out portion as it is not a rumor and the news can be found anywhere on the internet by a simple search of "Davey Boy Smith" and "$100,000". The other information someone else erased that I put in for his feud with Steve McMichael[2] and his falling out with Bret Hart over his return to the WWF is also easily searchable. Putting it ALL back in. Neoyamaneko
[edit] Real name
Dave Meltzer wrote the following in his book Tributes II:
- Davey Boy Smith (That was his legal name at birth-his mother mistakenly put his sex on his birth certificate in the spot where his midle name was supposed to be)...
I have the change the article to reflect this information.--Darren Jowalsen 02:35, 25 May 2006 (UTC)
In the UK, it is the registrar, not the parent, who writes the birth certificate out, therefore this cannot be true. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 194.128.14.17 (talk) 10:10, 9 November 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Davey Boy Smith in Stampede
After Smith was released from the WWF after 1999-2000 stint, he went back to Stampede Wrestling. I think it should be added to the page. But I don't know exactly when he went back to Stampede Wrestling. Mr. C.C. 18:15, 30 June 2006 (UTC)
