I am curious, is this the guy that does all the Soprano stuff?? what does "The voice" mean? (I think it refers to voice impersonations.robertjohnsonrj 19:56, 31 August 2006 (UTC))

[edit] Dave McRae new layout:

This conversation was originally posted here; it has been moved to the article talk page to centralize discussion.

It would be greatly appreciated if you could get back to me on why you decided to change Dave McRae's wikipedia back to what it was prior to May 1st.

We have had this issue before with you specifically, deleting the "awards" part, because you felt that award winning only gears towards professional awards, not school awards. What you failed to do, was look closely, or read further and see the professional awards he had won. You jumped the gun.

If you looked closely, the new layout for Dave McRae, was the exact same information, but better organized. This information is not my opinion, it is fact, you have your reason for deleting as... restore text prior to May 1st, which introduced problems. Why would you want this? Would you not, as an editor, want information that did not result in problems?

Because you have the ability to change, edit, and reform certain pages, does not give you the right to do it without proper notification.

Read the new lay out, and read the one you put back. You tell me, what looks and sounds better? I think it's a no brainer. Please respond as soon as possible, so we can work something out.

Hello... I'd like to go more in depth on this matter, but for now here is a summary of the issues:
  • The page was substantially rewritten on May 1st, in a manner which introduced numerous issues. This is reflected in the fact another editor independently placed a "neutrality" tag on the new version.
  • It has had to be reworked on several occasions throughout its history over similar concerns.
  • In general, the page has primarily been authored by representatives of Mr. McRae, which Wikipedia regards as a conflict of interest. In such cases, people such as yourself (as his press agent) are recommended to post information and discussion points on the talk page, rather than writing them directly into the article.
Some examples of problems with the new text include changes such as:
  • "Dave McRae is a filmmaker who thrives on mood and atmosphere to help tell a compelling story." (non-encyclopedic wording)
  • "One of Dave's most notable talents, is not only the amount of different voices he can preform, but how quickly he can change between them. This comes as a blessing for editors and producers who are used to recording one voice at a time." (non-encyclopedic wording)
  • excessive use of phrases such as "award winning", plus a lack of citations overall;
  • the inclusion of non-notable details that expand the article without adding encyclopedic value (such as high school awards in the lead and the text about leaving school "prematurely");
  • technical issues, including wording, minor spelling errors, and overlinking;
  • an overall tone more suited to a web site or press release.
Given these notes, it is better to restore an older version rather than to leave a problematic version up during discussion. If you feel there are changes needed, you are strongly advised to discuss them here first. It would also help if you were to register a user name so that other editors can leave messages for you. I'll try to add more as time permits. --Ckatzchatspy 08:53, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
