"I want to be a stewardess when I grow up"

I once applied as a call center agent for Cebu Pacific when I was already here in Davao City. However, the hiring was for agents to be destined in metro manila so I did not pursue the application.

Along with the call center agent applicants were those young attractive people who applied as stewards/stewardess. They were really handsome and beautiful with great body.

We always hear little girls say "I want to be a stewardess when I grow up!" because the job is as enticing as you can travel freely from different parts or cities of the country or if you get luckier, into different countries.

The qualifications to be hired as a steward aren't easy. Some are not gifted or blessed to be a steward. You have to have a smooth (clean), fine skin, tall (at least 5'2 or 5'4 for women), great set of teeth and flawless legs... Of course, you need to have excellent speaking skills with Filipino and English languages.

What is really a steward? According to an online dictionary the word means:

1. Someone who manages property or other affairs for someone else

2. The ship's officer who is in charge of provisions and dining arrangement

3. An attendant on an airplane

4. A union member who is elected to represent fellow workers in negotiating with management

5. One having charge of buildings or grounds or animals

In short, someone delegated to BE IN CHARGE.

In the first book of the Bible, Adam and Eve, our first parents, were delegated to be stewards of all of God's creation. Now that they are gone, basically, we, Christians in faith, ARE delegated TO BE IN CHARGE of His creation.

What does this mean? To whom and what are we in charge to take care of?

I believe as a parent, you are in charge to be responsible in taking care of your family, as a daughter or son. We are in charge to be obedient to our parents and to help them rear the family to become closer to God. As a worker, we are in charge to do our best in whatever we do and make everything happen in God's will. As a businessmen or employers, you are in charge to take good care of your employees and treat them well.

We are all in charge of everything that surrounds us, people, animals, living things, and other things, from small ones to bigger responsibilities.

As stewards of God, there are no specific qualifications. We all look fit and good to be His stewards because we are created to be His greatest miracles. We are His own images.

Isn't it great? He trusts us so much to take good care of everything He made. He loves us that much.

"I want to be a steward/stewardess when I grow up."

We do not need to grow more years to be a steward of God. Anytime is the right time.

Do you want to be a steward/stewardess?
