Davo Karničar

Davo Karničar (born October 26, 1962 in Zgornje Jezersko, Slovenia) is a Slovenian climber and an extreme skier.
As an active Alpine skier, he was a member of the National Alpine Ski Team between 1975 and 1982. An Alpine climber since 1980, he has so far recorded over 1.400 Alpine climbs and ski descents. He was the first man who skied from all 7 continent highest peaks [1]. Although he failed to become the first human to do so as Kit Deslauriers managed the whole collection of summits almost a month ahead of him. He was also the first man who skied down from the Mount Everest on October 7, 2000.
He skied from the following peaks:
- Mount Everest (8848 meters)in Asia in October 7, 2000
- Kilimanjaro (5895 meters) in Africa in November 2001
- Mount Elbrus (5642 meters) in Europe in May 2002
- Aconcagua (6960 meters) in South America in January 2003
- Mount Kosciuszko (2228 meters) in Australia in August 2003
- Mount McKinley (6194 meters) in North America in June 2004
- Vinson Massif (4897 meters) in Antarctica in November 11, 2006
The other significant peaks he skied from include Eiger, Matterhorn and Mt. Blanc. In February 2001, he opened the first ski school for Nepalese children on the Khumbu glacier.
