Davidson is a Scottish patronymic surname, and is also a corresponding Clan, it means "son of David". There are alternate spellings called septs, including those common in the British Isles and Scandinavia: Davidsen, Davisson, Davison, Daveson, Davidsson. It is also common as a French, Portuguese, Czech, and Jewish surname.
