David and the Giants is a Christian rock band from Mississippi. They were active from 1977 to 1999. David W. Huff and his brothers, twins Rayborn & Clayborn, provided the core of the band. Drummer Keith Thibodeaux had formerly been a child actor, remembered for his role as "Little Ricky" in I Love Lucy. The band released 17 Christian albums.

Prior to the band's reorientation to Christian music, it had been a popular secular music rock band from 1963 to 1977. [1]

Leader David Huff currently performs as a solo artist, and his brothers occasionally rejoin him. David Huff has released 2 solo albums, Really, in 2000, and Proclaim, in 2004, which was re-released by Christian Records in 2005. So far, the band has not released one live album, although in 1980, the band's fourth album, Almost Midnight, contained a few live cuts.

Giant World have recently released all of the band's old and new albums on CD, as stated on the band's official website.

[edit] Musical career

[edit] Independent Era

The band released their first effort independently, titled Song of Songs. It contained ballads with a mixture of pop rock, like the band's second album, This One's For You. Two years later, the band had a ballad-filled album called Step in My Shoes. There were no "fast songs" on the album, and the album was not successful, despite being released independently. the band had a Christian rock album, their fourth album, titled Almost Midnight. it was more successful than the first three, and so was the band's fifth attempt, titled Heaven or Hell.

[edit] Popularity & Public Era

The band signed to a new record label, titled Priority Records. This record label sent the band's first public release to stores, selling very well. The band's next album was Riders in the Sky, which contained concert staples like Step by Step, King of the Jews, and Look at the People. It was more successful than the sixth was, selling thousands of copies. The band released another album, called Inhabitants of the Rock, which was not successful, and went out-of-print in the early 1990s. Then two more successes, Under Control and Magnificat, were both well accepted by fans. The band sold millions with the next two albums, called Strangers to the Night and R U Gonna Stand Up.

[edit] 1990s

This era was not successful, though it contained three hits from their albums, which were "Stumbling Block To A Stepping Stone", "I'm Still Rocking", and "Always On My Mind". This era's most successful album was "Angels Unaware."

[edit] Reunion performance

On December 9, 2007 The Huff brothers got together with Keith Thibodeaux for a single day reunion concert at Emmanuel Praise Church in Monroe, Georgia.
