David Wolman is an American author and journalist whose writing has appeared in publications such as Wired, Newsweek, Discover, National Geographic Traveler, New Scientist and Outside. In November 2006, Da Capo Press published his first book, A Left-Hand Turn Around the World: Chasing the Mystery and Meaning of All Things Southpaw. His next book, to be published by Smithsonian Books in the fall of 2008, is about spelling.
Wolman grew up outside of Boston before studying geography and environmental studies at Middlebury College. He later received his Master of Arts degree in journalism from Stanford University and completed a Fulbright journalism grant in Sapporo, Japan. Currently residing in Portland, Oregon, Wolman travels frequently to research topics in science, technology and business.
