From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

David Wolfe, born August 6, 1970[citation needed] is a raw vegan who co-founded Sunfood Nutrition (previously named Nature's First Law), through which he sells food supplements"superfoods" on a website.[1] Wolfe also founded and serves as president of The Fruit Tree Planting Foundation.[2] . He is a passionate proponent of the healing and beautifying power of raw chocolate cacao. By bringing cacao beans and nibs into mainstream distribution throughout North America, David has continued to promote the economies of indigenous cultures through ethical business. [3]

With a masters degree in nutrition, and a background in science and mechanical engineering, David Wolfe is considered one of the world’s top authorities on natural health, beauty nutrition, herbalism, chocolate, and organic superfoods. Leading the field with his vision, mission, education, and business, David has over 14 years of dedicated experience and understanding of the inner workings, the delicate chemistry, and hardcore mechanics of the human body and how the body is affected by the modern-day stressors of today’s fast-paced, over-worked, and unbalanced lifestyle, which is literally a “killer” to our beauty, health, and longevity.

With a life-long passion for inspiring people to “Have The Best Day Ever,” David has touched the hearts and minds of hundreds of thousands of people across the world. David is a true living master of what it means to “walk the talk” on the road to higher and higher levels of natural beauty, vibrant health, and peak-performance.

David has given over 1500 live lecture events in the past 14 years.

[edit] Controversy

In "Sunfood Diet," Wolfe mentions edible plants that were not commonly known, or were much less known, in the U.S. in the 1950s. These include maca, goji berries, mesquite, certain sea vegetables, purely raw cacoa (the raw beans used to make chocolate), spirulina, noni, chlorella, certain edible mushrooms, and other edible substances that Wolfe refers to as "superfoods."

Other books carrying the "Sunfood" name include Frederick Patenaude's "Sunfood Cuisine," and John McCabe's "Sunfood Living."

Patenaude is the son of a chef, and lives in Montreal, Canada. He is the author of other books on raw food.

Wolfe is not a true vegan. Vegans do not consume bee products, including honey, bee pollen, and royal jelly. Wolfe consumes these products and promotes them as "superfoods." He also keeps bee hives on his land on the Hawaiian island of Kauai. As of 2008, Wolfe was actively expanding the number of hives on his Hawaiian property so that he could begin marketing his own bee products.
