David Volz

David ("Dave") Volz (born May 2, 1962) is a retired American pole vaulter, best known for finishing fifth at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona. In addition, he won a bronze medal at the 1985 Summer Universiade. With 5.75 metres in 1982, Volz and Jean-Michel Bellot shared the number one spot on the top performers list that year.
Memorialized for a technique, now illegal, of steadying the bar to prevent it from falling off, known as "Volzing".
