[edit] Background
David was born and raised in Chicago in the mid '70s. Tinkering with a keyboard by age 3, he took to music and art at an early age. David started out on the trumpet in grade school, then moved up to bass guitar in junior high school. During these early years, he was also awarded an open-ended scholarship to the Art Institute of Chicago, where he spent his weekends studying art and design and wandering the museum and catacombs.
Throughout high school he honed his ear and musicianship in project after project of music from punk to jazz to progressive. After receiving an academic scholarship, he studied music theory and played upright bass in the concert orchestra and jazz band at the University of Toledo, OH.
After relocating to Los Angeles in 1996, he took part in countless musical projects and groups. From rock bands to electronic avant-garde music, David immersed himself fully in the ever-evolving art of sound. Having the opportunity to work with so many incredible musicians gave him a well-rounded and accessible musical sensibility, and a diverse musical vocabulary.
David is now focused exclusively on scoring for film, television and games.
