David Smith Monson

David Smith Monson (born June 20, 1945) is a U.S. Representative from Utah.

Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, Monson attended public schools. B.S., University of Utah, 1970. Sergeant, Utah Air National Guard from 1967 to 1973. Certified public accountant. Monson was elected Utah State Auditor in 1972. He was only one of two Replublicans to win a statewide office that year, the rest being taken by the Democrats.^[1] from 1973 to 1976. Monson served as lieutenant governor of Utah from 1977 to 1984 or for two terms.

Monson was elected as a Republican to the Ninety-ninth Congress (January 3, 1985-January 3, 1987). He was not a candidate for reelection in 1986. Business executive involved in international trade and recycling paper. He is a resident of Salt Lake City, Utah.

Monson is a Latter Day Saint.^[2]
