David Shapira

David S. Shapira is an American businessman and leader of Giant Eagle, Inc. He initially did not intend to be part of the business, and studied at Stanford, before returning to Giant Eagle in the early 1980s. He has been Chairman for more than twenty years. Both he and his late wife Karen, who died of breast cancer, were very involved in Pittsburgh philanthropy, especially in the Jewish community. He is the chairman of Carnegie Mellon University's Board of Trustees.
