David Shane Gunderson (nicknamed triangle) is currently an assistant professor at the University of Manitoba[1] and is a famous Canadian mathematician. With many published papers on combinatorics, graph theory, finite geometry, extremal set theory, and Ramsey theory; his most notable work is his collaborative work with Paul Erdős[2].

Contents

[edit] Contribution

Much of his work is focused on graph colouring, such as Ramsey theory and extremal graph theory.[2]

[edit] Erdős number

David Gunderson has an Erdős number of one (where Paul Erdős, himself, is the only one with Erdős Number zero). He is one of 511 collaborators of Paul Erdős[3].

[edit] Mathematical models

David Gunderson is also an amateur woodworker who has created numerous models of polyhedra, mathematical puzzles and dissections. Many pieces are modelled on drawings by Leonardo da Vinci and are displayed at the University of Manitoba.
