[edit] Biography
David Roma is an American television producer and filmmaker, born In New York City, 1974. Son of 1950's and 60's Capitol Records recording artist Frank Roma, grandson of a classical pianist, David spent his early years until the age of 21 developing a career as a concert pianist before leaving it behind in 1996 to become a writer, producer and director of films and television shows. After attending the Juilliard School he worked with Andy Warhol videographer Don Munroe, who directed Andy's 15 Minutes, and other multi-media projects that were spawned from The Factory.[1] David had his first hands-on experience making documentaries with Don before his sudden death in 2001. David has gone on to produce films, videos, and television shows for various networks and studios including, FX (TV network), Discovery Channel, TLC (TV channel), VH1 and the Independent Film Channel. After a tragic accident where two of his pit-bulls jumped from the roof of a New York City building he was inspired to produce a documentary directed by Bobby Brown, "Off The Chain", that exposes the horrorific world of dog fighting and stands in defense of the Pit Bull while organizations were coming together in attempts to ban the breed. It ended up a New York Times critic's pick and gained support from the Humane Society as well as other animal rights organizations. He produced his first feature film in a partnership with Sa Re Ga Ma, a century old Indian media giant, entitled Karma, Confessions, and Holi. He was forced to direct half of the film when the director and model/actress Naomi Campbell, who had a supporting role in the film, refused to work with one another after only a week of shooting. The film is scheduled for world wide release in September 2008. In 2007, together with Anthony Mandler, created Savant, a production company producing films and television.
