David Price (musician)

David Price (born 1969) is the current Organist and Master of the Choristers of Portsmouth Cathedral. He has held this position since 1996.
Price was a chorister at Bath Abbey whilst at King Edward's School for Boys (Bath) before studying at Trinity College of Music in London. During his time at Trinty, he spent three years as Assistant Organist of Croydon Parish Church. During his final year he held the Michael James Organ Scholarship at Rochester Cathedral, working under Barry Ferguson. In 1991 Price became Assistant Organist at Ely Cathedral.
He is a member elect of the General Synod of the Church of England, is a Trustee and Member of the Council of the Royal School of Church Music and the Chair of the Royal School of Church Music for the Portsmouth Area. He is also a published composer.
In 2007 he was awarded an Honorary Fellowship of the Academy of St Cecelia and was made an Honorary Doctor of Music by the University of Portsmouth.
