David Penalva (born 26 January 1980 in France) is a Portuguese rugby union footballer, who plays as a lock for Blagnac, a French side newly promoted to the professional ranks for 2007-08. Penalva also plays for Portugal's national side.

Penalva made his debut for the national side on 21 March 2004, in a match against Spain, and has received 20 caps in total.[2]. Penalva was in the Portuguese squad for the 2007 World Cup, appearing in the three opening games, and scoring a try in the third game against Italy.[2].
