David Paul Gregg

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

David Paul Gregg was the inventor of the laserdisc. Gregg was inspired to create the laserdisc in the late 1950s. He orignally had it patented as the "Videodisk" in 1961. In 1968 his patents were purchased by MCA who help develop the technology further. His designs and patents gave way for the optical disk, which helped with the creation of the DVD, compact discs, and MiniDisc. He claims his idea came from being abducted by a UFO where he claims to have seen several disc based storage solutions.
