David Obua (born April 10, 1984 in Kampala) is a Ugandan football player who plays as either left-back or left-wing for South African side Kaizer Chiefs and The Cranes, the national team of Uganda.

He signed his first professional contract in the United States after briefly attending Martin Methodist College in Pulaski, Tennessee between 1999 and 2001. His first taste of professional football was with Raleigh, N.C. in the United Soccer Leagues system. After a partial season in Raleigh, he moved to the Wilmington Hammerheads, a third division team, where he finished the season with 7 goals.

But problems off the field forced Obua to temporarily abandon his hopes of a professional career. He eventually returned to Uganda and started over again. Earning a place on the Uganda National Team, he was spoted by Kaizer Chiefs after a standout performance for the national team against South Africa. He went on to become one of the top players in South Africa during a two-year period 2005-2007.

In September 2007, he scored a hat-trick for Uganda in an African Cup of Nations qualifier against Niger which The Cranes won 3-1.

Obua is the son of Denis Obua, considered by some as Uganda's all-time top player. He played for Uganda in the 1978 African Nations Cup Finals. His uncle, John Akii-Bua was a hurdler in track and field. He became Uganda's first Olympic champion after winning the 400-meter hurdles in the world record time of 47.82 seconds at the 1972 Munich Olympics.

Obua has recently been connected with a transfer to Croatian champions Dinamo Zagreb.
