David Nash (cricketer)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

David Charles Nash (born January 19, 1978) is an English cricketer. He is a right-handed batsman and wicket-keeper.

Born in Chertsey, he first played in the English cricket team at Under-14 level. On many occasions he represented the England Under-19 team. However, despite touring with the England A team on two occasions, he never received full international recognition.

Injury was to keep him out of Middlesex's 2004 season, and in 2005 he was rarely played, Ben Scott acting in his wicket-keeping role.

He was selected to be the 2007 Beneficiary, following his many years of service to the club. He is currently the county club's eighth most prolific wicketkeeper in first-class cricket.

He gave a frank interview to the Middlesex Fan site 'Middlesex till we die' in which he revealed the origins of his nickname 'Knocker' and that he's something of a practical joker. "I like to have a laugh and there is good banter between team mates, even when the team is doing badly. My favourite practical joke was when Ed Smith turned up in the dressing room with a suitcase. I opened it, made a washing line and hung up his wife’s knickers and bras for all to see. I guess that might count against us a bit now that he’s captain."
