David McNab

David McNab (born 1958, Vancouver, British Columbia) is the Assistant General Manager of the Anaheim Ducks of the NHL.
[edit] Early life and Education
He was born in Vancouver but grew up in San Diego, California. His father Max McNab was a jouneyman NHLer who won the Stanley Cup with the Detroit Red Wings in 1950. His father later served as the General Manager of the Washington Capitals and New Jersey Devils. His brother Peter is a former NHL forward who played the majority of his career with the Boston Bruins. David McNab graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1978. In 1977 he was the goaltender on Wisconsin Badgers' NCAA championship team. He was drafted by the St. Louis Blues in the ninth round of the 1975 NHL Draft. He currently lives in Yorba Linda, California, with his wife Kari, and two daughters, Ali and Erica.

David McNab started his professional scouting career in 1978 with the Washington Capitals, where he spent four seasons. In 1982, McNab was signed by the Hartford Whalers, where he spent the next seven seasons as a scout, the last two as the director of player recruitment. He joined the New York Rangers in 1989, where he worked for four seasons. Hired in 1993 an original member of the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, David McNab has been the Mighty Ducks assistant general manager sice December 1995, His duties include contract negotiation, player evaluation and scouting. Prior to being named as the Mighty Ducks assistant general manager McNab was the club’s director of player personnel, and was largely responsible for the team’s selections in the 1994–96 NHL Entry and Supplemental Drafts. He won his first career Stanley Cup in 2007.

McNab has also worked for USA Hockey, both as an assistant general manager for the United States in the World Championships on three different occasions, as well as serving as a consultant for the 1984, 1988 and 1992 United States Olympic Teams.
