David Mays is the co-founder and co-owner of The Source magazine.
Mays is of Jewish extraction and is a Harvard Graduate.
In 2006, the board of directors of The Source officially terminated Mays from the position of CEO of The Source Entertainment, Inc. after revenues from the magazine fell.
David Mays and Busta Rhymes had an altercation at the Winter Music Conference that resulted in David Mays getting 5 staples in his head.
David Mays also had connections with Ced Gee of the Ultramagnetic MC's and Tim Dog. Tim Dog stated that in his song "No More Interviews", saying he lost interest in The Source when they put Martin Lawrence on the cover instead of Ultramagnetic MC's.
Recently, Kimberly Osorio won the sexual harassment case against Benzino and Dave Mays, forcing Benzino and the founder of the Source to pay a sum of $8 million dollars.[1]
David Mays sat before a Grand Jury during the March 2007 tax evasion trial of partner Raymond 'Benzino' Scott in Boston, MA. Information given during that closed deposition was exchanged for the Federal Bureau of Investigation dropping Raymond 'Benzino' Scott's tax evasion charges
David Mays is currently a Co-owner of "HipHop Weekly", a bi-weekly tabloid started by himself and partner Raymond 'Benzino' Scott
