David Mackay (footballer)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
David Mackay (born July 25, 1988) is an Australian rules footballer.
He was drafted to the Adelaide Crows at pick number 48 in the 2006 AFL Draft and has been given Guernsey number 14. He came from Melbourne side, Oakleigh Chargers and appeared in the 2006 Victorian U/18 Metro side where he was inspirational in the grand final.
He attended Trinity Grammar School (Victoria) and was the House Captain of the school's Hindley House. This school has produced other professional footballers including Wayne Schwass, Luke Power and fellow 2006 NAB AFL draft pick Todd Goldstein, who was vice-captain of the house.
The 2007 season was one to forget for David. After featuring in the best players for his first reserves game in the SANFL he was rewarded with a game in the SANFL seniors and once again featured high in the best players on ground. Unfortunately he tore his hamstring early in the next match and it would be a recurring injury throughout 2007 for him, not playing another game.
Mackay made his debut for Adelaide during round one of the 2008 Premiership season in their loss to the Western Bulldogs.
