David Lucas (cricketer)

David Scott Lucas (born August 19, 1978) is a first class cricketer who played for Nottinghamshire and Yorkshire. He won the NBC Denis Compton Award in 2000. He was born in Nottingham.

A left arm fast medium bowler, he first played for Notts Second XI in 1996 and made his debut for Notts in first class cricket in 1999. He played at Trent Bridge until 2003, although he was selected only for one day games in his latter 2 seasons. Seeking first team cricket Lucas moved to Yorkshire for the 2005 season but failed to cement a place in the team. He played for Lincolnshire in the Minor Counties in 2006 and appeared for Northamptonshire in some non first class cricket in 2007.

In 23 first class games overall he took 60 wickets at 33.21 with a best of 5 for 49 against Bangladesh A. He has played 35 list A games so far, taking 44 wickets at 31.5 with a best analysis of 4 for 27 against Derbyshire. He scored a useful 436 runs first class runs at 21.8, his best of 49 coming against Durham University Centre of Cricketing Excellence. He scored 109 runs in one day games, at 10.9 with a highest score of 32 against Derbyshire.
