[edit] Mixed martial arts career
Well known for his Tae Kwon Do, elbow strikes, David Loiseau has had an impressive mixed martial arts career, boasting a professional record of 14-6-0 with victories over well known fighters such as Evan Tanner, Charles McCarthy and Gideon Ray. At UFC 58, Loiseau endured a gruelling five-round championship bout with UFC Middleweight Champion Rich "Ace" Franklin.. Throughout the entire fight, Rich "Ace" Franklin, the fighter with a strength advantage, won all five rounds, although Loiseau still managed to score a knockdown with a punch in the third round. On September 23, 2006 David Loiseau fought against Mike Swick at UFC 63. As the first round began Loiseau appeared very tentative and was not the aggressor of the fight. Swick landed unanswered punches on Loiseau and the first round was very one sided. Despite the advice of his corner, Loiseau was still tense but did launch more of an attack. Near the middle of the round Loiseau landed several solid leg kicks on Swick, however Swick once again pressed the attack and took Loiseau to the ground as, well as winning the stand up battle again. In the third and final round Loiseau had loosened up a bit and was fighting more reminiscent of his usual style. Loiseau pressed the action and took Swick to the ground where he began to drop his lethal elbow strikes to Swick's head. Swick worked frantically to get out from under Loiseau and up to his feet again. Loiseau once again pressed the attack and overpowered Swick, forcing him into the fence. Loiseau once again unleashed some standing elbow strikes putting Swick in trouble; Swick then shot for the takedown and finished the fight in David Loiseau's full guard. Loiseau's actions in the third round were not enough to win him the fight as he lost to Mike Swick by unanimous decision. All three judges scored the Bout (29-28) for Swick. After the Swick fight, the UFC released Loiseau, which he said was a good decision for him since he was able to sign a good deal with EliteXC.[1] but he went on to lose his first fight there by decision.
On May 11, David Loiseau won by submission (arm triangle) in Round 2 over Freddie Espiricueta at The Art of War.
Loiseau has publicly stated that he plans on returning to the UFC going so far as to contact UFC President Dana White about a potential comeback.[2]
