In Parliament, Lepper has chaired the Broadcasting select committee.

In the 2005 general election he survived a lacklustre challenge by Keith Taylor, one of the principal speakers of the Green Party of England and Wales, who could only manage third place.

He has announced that he will be standing down at the next General Election.[1]
