David Kerns is a pediatrician, medical school professor, health care commentator and novelist (Standard of Care). He was educated at the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana and Northwestern University School of Medicine. He is currently Adjunct Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at Stanford University School of Medicine. He is also the Medical Director for the Center for Child Protection, Department of Pediatrics, at the Santa Clara Valley Medical Center in San Jose, California, where he has served as Chairman of the Department of Pediatrics and Chief Medical Officer. In addition, he was a Resident Scholar at the Rockefeller Foundation Bellagio Study Center.
