David Karanka de la Hoz (born April 20, 1978 in Vitoria, Álava) is a Spanish footballer who currently plays as a striker for Real Unión in Segunda División B.
David, younger brother of former Athletic, Real Madrid, Colorado Rapids and Spain star Aitor, came up through the ranks of Athletic Bilbao where he appeared twice for the first team before being loaned out to Extremadura in 2000. Back in Athletic, David managed only six games, scoring once, before he was transferred to Real Murcia where he would play a further 36 La Liga games in the 2002-03 season, scoring a decent 13 goals.
Despite his goals for the club, Murcia was relegated after the season and David took the plunge with them. After a season in the Segunda División with Murcia, he was transferred to fellow team Sporting Gijón where his form deteriorated, scoring only twice in 32 games in his first two seasons at the club.
In January 2008, Karanka joined Real Unión, in Irún, Guipúzcoa.
