David K. Norton

David Norton[1] was named senior vice president, human resources for The New York Times Company in February 2006. Mr. Norton is responsible for all human resources functions of the Company, including compensation and benefits, diversity programs, performance management, staff development and succession planning.

Previously, Mr. Norton, served as executive vice president, worldwide human resources at Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc., which he joined in 2000. From 1990 until 2000, he held various positions with PepsiCo, Inc., including senior vice president, human resources for Frito-Lay North America from 1997 to 2000, and senior vice president, human resources, Pepsi Food Systems, from 1995 to 1996. He began his career in 1977 at The Quaker Oats Company.

Mr. Norton received a B.A. degree from Michigan State University in 1977 and completed the Advanced Management Program at Northwestern University in 1993.
