David I Kuropalates

David I Kuropalates (876-881), was a Prince of Iberia from 876 to 881; the oldest son and successor of Bagrat I. He was baptised by the famous monk-father Grigol Khandzteli. His daughter was married to Adarnase of Tao. In 881, David I was murdered by his cousin Nasra, the oldest son of Guaram Mampali. The reason for committing this crime probably was that Guaram Mampali prior to his death had given away his all territories which had practically left his son Nasra without an inheritance. The feud between the relatives continued under David’s son Adarnase, who eventually, in 885, avenged the killing of his father.
