David Hicks (chaplain)

Chaplain Major General David Hicks (born 1942) was United States Army Chief of Chaplains from 2003-2007. He was appointed to this position in August 2003, succeeding Gaylord Gunhus.

An ordained Presbyterian, he served as a command chaplain at the United States Army Special Forces Command (USASOC) at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He has over 30 years of experience as an army chaplain, and in his current position, oversees over 2200 chaplains serving in United States Army, National Guard, and Army Reserve capacities.

He retired in 2007, and was succeeded by Brig. Gen. Douglas L. Carver.
