Dave Hibbert (born 28 January 1986) is an English football striker who is currently playing for Shrewsbury Town.
Hibbert started his career at Port Vale, where he made 10 appearances, eight as substitute. His two goals for the club both came in his second starting appearance. At the end of his first season with Port Vale, Preston North End secured his services in June 2005. As Hibbert was under the age of 23, the fee was decided by a tribunal according to UEFA regulations, and is thought to be around £150,000. He made his full debut for Preston in an FA Cup tie against Crystal Palace in a 1-1 draw in January 2006, although he had already made seven appearances as substitute.
On 31 July 2006 he was loaned to Rotherham United for six months. He played 22 times for the Millers, scoring 2 goals.
On 4 January 2007 he was loaned to Bradford City for one month. He made his debut for Bradford City in their 1 0 win against his old club Port Vale at Vale Park on the 6 January. On 7 February the club announced that they had re-signed Hibbert on the maximum 93 day loan, keeping him at Valley Parade until 9 April 2007. During his prolonged stay at Valley Parade, however, Hibbert suffered an ankle injury on 28 February[1] and did not play again for the Bantams. He remained at Bradford City for a month so that caretaker manager David Wetherall could see if the injury improved, but returned to Preston in April.
In June 2007 he moved to League Two side Shrewsbury Town for a nominal fee.[2] He notably scored the first goal at Shrewsbury's New Meadow stadium, in a pre-season friendly, his first match in Shrews colours.[3]. Along with this, he was also the first ever League goalscorer at New Meadow, scoring a penalty against former club Bradford.
