David Healy (Irish politician)

David Healy (Irish: Daithí Ó hÉalaithe, born in Dublin, 1968) is an Irish Green Party politician. He has been Councillor from 1991 to 1999, and again since 2004, working mainly in the Fingal County Council.
He attended primary school in the Cayman Islands and secondary school at Cistercian College, Roscrea in County Tipperary. He was awarded an LL.B and an MSc in Environmental Science by Trinity College, Dublin where he also ran as a Green candidate for the student council.
He was Green Party candidate for the Dublin North East constituency in the 2002 general election, winning 5.65% of the votes. He ran again unsuccessfully in the 2007 general election winning 6.7% of the votes.
Healy is Senior Adviser to John Gormley, leader of the Irish Green Party and Irish Environment Minister. Healy is also his party's spokesperson on climate change and is involved in the Foundation for the Economics of Sustainability.
He has lived in Howth since 1987. He is an active urban cyclist and a fluent Esperanto speaker.[1]
