Guzman attended Archbishop Romero Catholic Secondary School (Toronto Ontario) , and went to the University of Louisville on a soccer scholarship after graduating. He played for Chicago Fire Premier in the USL Premier Development League, where he led the team to the Great Lakes division championship.
Guzman's father, Orlando Guzman played in 1970 for the Peruvian national football team.
