David Grant CBE, FREng, FIEE is the Vice Chancellor of Cardiff University in Wales. Since his appointment in 2001, Dr Grant has overseen the merger between Cardiff University and the University of Wales College of Medicine, which was completed late 2004, and the awarding of University Status to Cardiff. He is also a council member of the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council and a Fellow of Wolfson College, Cambridge.

Prior to his appointment at Cardiff University, Dr Grant was Director of Technology at Marconi plc (1991 - 2001) and was awarded the Mensforth International Gold Medal by the Institute of Electrical Engineers in 1996. He gained his PhD from Durham University in 1974
