David Gerrard

Dr. David Gerrard is a prominent sports administrator and sports medicine specialist from New Zealand.
He is also a former national champion butterfly stroke swimming, holding the national 110 yards title from 1962 to 1968 (excluding 1964) and the 220 yards title for ten consecutive years from 1960 to 1969.
Gerrard won a gold medal in the 1966 Commonwealth Games in Jamaica in the 200 metres butterfly and a bronze medal as part of the 4x110 yards medley relay.
Since retirement from competition, Gerrard has work in the field of sports medicine, mainly based in Dunedin at the University of Otago. He has served as chef de mission for the New Zealand team at both Olympic and Commonwealth Games.
